Smart ForTwo Cabrio convertible (2016-2019) - Interior & comfort

The Smart ForTwo Cabrio has an interior with a certain charm, but the same can't be said for some of the materials used

Smart ForTwo Cabrio dashboard

The ForTwo Cabrio sports a funky interior, made up of lots of bubbly shapes and featuring a neat protruding touchscreen for the infotainment system. Sadly, all the cute shapes and surfaces are rendered in some fairly hard, scratchy plastics that don’t feel that good to touch.

You can get an optional rev counter mounted on the left of the dashboard, but even this feels like it’s likely to fall off or break quite easily. So the quality of materials could be better, but the seats are at least comfortable, particularly if you spend extra and get the heated seats. Save for the odd fitting, the car feels well built in general.

Equipment

The ForTwo Cabrio comes in three main specifications, but some special editions are likely to join the range, too. The entry-level trim is called Passion, while Prime adds some sporty touches and extra equipment. The Proxy model ups the luxury with kit like leather seats.

Options

As well as the optional rev counter, buyers can also specify sat nav, which is displayed on the glossy touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard. The fabric roof is black as stanadard, but for just over £115 you can have it in red instead. According to Smart, there are around 100 colour combinations to choose from once you've taken the roof and bodywork options into account.
