Honda S2000 discontinued

Honda has announced that the S2000 is to be discontinued, ending 10 years of high-revving open-top motoring for the Japanese brand

"We love the sound of VTEC in the morning"

The Honda S2000 is no more. After 10 years on sale and 110,000 cars sold worldwide, the high-revving two-seater is to be killed off, with the last car rolling off the production line in June 2009.

The S2000 has only received minor tweaks and updates throughout its life. But instead of committing to the cost of developing an all-new car, Honda has decided that a relatively small-volume drop-top isn’t viable in today’s market.

With the demise of the F1 team, and plenty of rumours that the NSX supercar replacement has also been canned, Honda is left with the arguably more relevant Civic and Integra Type-Rs to uphold its performance mantle.
