Customers have begun taking delivery of the new Range Rovers at Land Rover’s new handover centre Solihull.

The first customers have begun taking delivery of their brand new Range Rovers at Land Rover's new handover centre at the company's factory in Solihull, West Midlands.

The handover centre has been created to give customers “a high-quality, bespoke multimedia experience” when picking up their new Range Rover from the factory.

Upon arrival at handover centre – which has been constructed near the Lode Lane entrance to the Jaguar Land Rover plant – visitors will be greeted by a concierge.

They are then taken to the VIP lounge, which features five-metre-high ceilings designed to create “a luxury boutique feel.”

Guests then get to watch an introductory film in a cinema-style theatre, with audio provided by British company Meridian – which also makes the upmarket optional stereo for Range Rover and Jaguar models.

The next step is to move to an unveiling room, where their new Range Rover will be unveiled using a special 3D projection, silhouetting the build of the car over the buyer's vehicle.

In addition to the VIP treatment experienced at the handover centre, buyers will also have the option of a factory tour and be able to drive at the Land Rover Experience off-road driving centre.

Mark Cameron, Jaguar Land Rover global brand experience director, added: “This facility has been designed to provide customers with the opportunity to come into direct contact with our brand. It offers an intimate setting while delivering bespoke and premium experiences using the latest technologies to offer the very highest levels of customer service.”

More than 6,000 people take Jaguar Land Rover factory tours every year, but JLR hopes to boost this figure by a further 2,000 thanks to the new handover centre.

However, visiting the handover centre to pick up your new Range Rover doesn’t come cheap. The experience is subject to availability and adds an extra £1,200 to the cost of a new Range Rover, which starts at £69,995
