New Kia Cee'd GT unveiled
Kia has revealed the Cee’d GT, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The five-door Kia Cee'd GT is a hot-hatchback version of the standard Cee’d and will join the three-door Pro_cee’d GT in Kia’s line-up.
Both cars are powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, delivering 201bhp to the front wheels, allowing for acceleration from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds. All cars are equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but a dual-clutch automatic may be offered towards the end of 2013.
The GT models get a new bodykit, featuring more aggressive bumpers and side skirts. A trademark red strip runs along the bottom of the front fascia, and a clusters of four LED lights sit either side of the bumper. Twin exhaust pipes and 18-inch alloy wheels complete the makeover.
Production of both the Cee’d GT and Pro_cee’d GT starts at Kia’s Slovakian plant in the middle of May. The Pro_cee’d goes on sale first in the middle of the year, with the Cee’d GT following shortly after.
Final prices haven’t yet been revealed, but the Cee’d GT is expected to cost around £22,000. That’s a little more than the five-door Ford Focus ST, which is a second faster from 0-62mph.
