Kia pro_cee'd 2013 front quarter

The new Kia Pro_cee’d hatchback will cost from £17,495 and is available to order from Kia dealers now.

The three-door model is a rival for the Volkswagen Golf, Hyundai i30 and five-door-only Ford Focus.

Instead of the 1, 2 and 3 specification levels that are offered on the rest of Kia's models, the Pro_cee’d has been given a new, two-level naming strategy to help differentiate it from the five-door Cee’d model. The Pro_cee’d range now comprises S and SE equipment levels, although a higher performance Pro_cee’d GT will be added to the line-up from the summer.

The Pro_cee’d S features a high specification as standard, including 16-inch alloys, black interior trim, auto headlights, air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth and parking sensors. The top-spec Pro_cee’d SE includes 17-inch alloys, electric seat adjustment, auto wipers, a seven-inch touchscreen sat-nav and a colour reversing camera.

All models have Kia's Flex Steer system, which has three different steering weights – Normal, Comfort and Sport – that can be selected depending on the driver's preference. Two engines will be available: a 133bhp 1.6-litre GDI petrol and a 126bhp 1.6-litre diesel. Both are available in S and SE models and all include a fuel-saving stop-start system.

All Pro_cee’ds come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. Kia's six-speed dual-clutch gearbox will be available on the 1.6-litre GDI petrol model in SE spec only. Although emissions and power figures are the same, Kia claims a faster 0-60mph time for SE models. The sprint takes take 9.8 seconds for the S and 9.5 for the SE in petrol-engined form, and 11.5 seconds for the S and 10.5 for the SE with diesel engines.

Prices for the Pro_cee’d S petrol start at £17,495, while the diesel costs from £18,595. The SE petrol with a manual gearbox costs from £19,495, the petrol auto costs from £20,795 and the SE 1.6-litre diesel starts at £20,595.

All Pro_cee’d models come with Kia's seven-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard. A Care-3 all-inclusive servicing package is available for £329. This covers the cost of the car's first three services, or you can opt for the Care-3 Plus package, which covers the car's first five services and costs £609.
