Dacia Sandero Stepway will be UK’s most affordable supermini crossover
Dacia has revealed that the new Sandero Stepway will cost from £7,995.
Dacia has revealed that the Sandero Stepway - the budget brand's new supermini crossover - will cost from £7,995. Based on Britain's cheapest new car, the Dacia Sandero supermini, it comes with rugged, off-road-inspired looks and equipment.
The Stepway is available in two versions, Ambiance and Laureate, each boasting a longer equipment list than the equivalent Sandero model for a cost of only £600 more. That includes front and rear scuff plates, roof bars, 16-inch alloy-look wheels and suspension that's 40mm higher.
Ambiance models get electric windows, Bluetooth, metallic paint and a radio/CD system. Range-topping Laureate cars cost £1,800 more and get air-con, full electric windows, sat-nav, and a leather steering wheel and gearknob.
Inside, the Stepway offers 320 litres of boot space with 60/40 split-folding rear seats. A Touring Pack, available for £495, adds a boot luggage net, a centre armrest and an alarm.
Two engines are available: a 900cc petrol engine that produces 89bhp, and a 1.5-litre diesel capable of 89bhp. The diesel is £1,000 more expensive but will be cheaper to run, offering fuel economy of 70.6mpg, compared with 52.3mpg in the petrol model.
The Dacia Sandero Stepway is on sale from 1 January 2013, with the first cars delivered in May.
