Larger, more efficient, more refined SUV on sale in the UK from summer 2013.

Subaru has confirmed that the all-new Subaru Forester will go on sale in the UK from next summer, promising competitive pricing and better fuel economy for the SUV.

This will be the fourth-generation Forester, and Subaru says it’ll have improved performance, efficiency and safety, as well as increased space in the more practical interior.

Still based around Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, the range will include 148bhp 2.0-litre Boxer diesel and petrol engines and a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol producing 276bhp. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard, but the petrol engines can be fitted with an optional Lineartronic CVT auto. This gearbox has been tuned to give better fuel economy than a typical automatic.

Haydn Davies, marketing director for Subaru UK, commented: “Since the Forester's launch in 1997, it has gained a loyal following across the UK for its rugged, go-anywhere abilities, and these developments will ensure it remains a firm SUV favourite.”
