Abarth
Abarth is the high performance division of Fiat. It takes the standard Punto Evo and 500 and adds more power, better handling and dramatic styling to offer cars which are great to drive, but don't cost the earth to buy and run.
Abarth 500
The Fiat 500 is already one of the most stylish superminis money can buy, but the Abarth version takes this to a new level. Featuring a distinctive bodykit, larger wheels and aggressive scorpion badges, the Abarth 500 looks great, and thanks to a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine it has the power to match. Steering is very direct and body roll is minimal, making the Abarth fun to drive. However, the ride is very firm and Abarth cars are only available through a limited network of dealers. An Esseesse kit is available which boosts power further, and adds stiffer suspension and more powerful brakes.
Abarth Punto Evo
The high-performance edition of the Punto Evo is a long way from the practical hatchback made by Fiat. With the addition of an aggressive bodykit and 17-inch alloy wheels, the Abarth Punto Evo is a real head-turner. Power comes from a turbocharged version of Fiat’s 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol engine, and there is the option of two different driving modes, Normal and Sport. It's great fun to drive and the handling is excellent, but the ride is a little firm. Even with its sporty nature, the Abarth is surprisingly economical and has low emissions.
