Nissan Murano

The Murano is Nissan's quirky, distinctively styled SUV. Available with a choice of a thirsty 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine or rather slow 2.5-litre diesel, both models cost the same and feature just about all the equipment you could wish for as standard, including heated electric seats, satellite navigation and a panoramic glass roof. The Murano is more of a style statement than a mainstream choice, and is built for comfort rather than speed, so body roll in corners is noticeable and the steering is numb. However, grip is good thanks to the standard four-wheel-drive system and the cabin is well insulated from noise.

  • Pros:
    • Lots of standard equipment
    • Very comfortable and refined
  • Cons:
    • Expensive
    • Poor fuel economy compared to rivals
    • Not much fun to drive

The latest version of the Nissan Murano is the best looking and most practical yet. With updated looks it is more distinctive than ever and the addition of the 2.5-litre dCi diesel engine means that it is more practical, too. Costing £38,000 for the entry-level model, the Murano is not cheap though, but with the large pricetag you do get a lot of standard equipment and generous amounts of space. Not the most involving SUV you will ever drive, the Murano does have its strengths and is definietly the most accomplished version so far.
