Renault's Espace provides luxury transport for up to seven people – and with its classy cabin and comfortable ride, it continues to set a benchmark for comfort. That said, the Espace is expensive to buy, and lacks the space of rivals like the Ford Galaxy. What's more, Renault's own Grand Scenic MPV is every bit as practical and almost as accomplished to drive.

The Renault Espace is big, with room inside for seven people on its sliding, folding and turning individual seats. Big families are exactly what the Espace is designed for, although unlike the Ford Galaxy, the rearmost seats are too small for adults. The single petrol engine choice is to be avoided, with the 148bhp 2.0 dCi diesel being the ideal choice.
