Vauxhall Meriva
The Vauxhall Meriva is a practical and innovative mini-MPV. Highlights include the car's party-piece doors which are hinged at the rear, and open barn-door style to provide superb access to the cabin. The Flex5 seats slide forwards, backwards and side-to-side to benefit luggage space or passenger comfort, depending on what is required. Despite the launch of a new entry level car, the Meriva isn’t cheap, but it also features a high-class interior to justify its price tag.
- pros:
- Innovative rear doors
- Interior versatility and practicality
- Cabin’s quality fit and finish
- cons:
- Entry models are basic
- Not very comfortable for five
- Lacklustre engine performance
The Meriva's unconventional doors and interior offer much more than simple novelty. Vauxhall has worked hard to create clever solutions to improve interior practicality, versatility, space and quality. It has also moved the Meriva upmarket, positioning it closer to the larger Zafira and rivals like Ford's C-MAX and other five-seat MPVs. That does mean prices have increased, too, but to compensate the Meriva now feels like a quality product rather than an entry-level budget choice.
