Steve’s top tips for car buyers

1. Colour matters more than you think. Your choice of new car colour shouldn’t just be based on what you like. Remember that bold colours can hurt residual values and that some models can be more sensitive to certain shades than others, particularly those with dark trim or design elements that stand out against light coloured bodywork. 
2. With electric cars, don’t focus on range at the expense of efficiency. A more efficient EV will see you get more miles from each battery charge and trips of 200 miles plus, where you need that big range figure, are a rarity for most drivers. 
3. If you’ve got kids in car seats or booster seats remember that they can actually need more rear legroom than adults because their feet won’t reach down far enough to fit under the front seat. Take the kids with you on your test drive.
