Used car deals of the week
Used car finance deals on models from Volkswagen and BMW, along with a wildcard Ford Puma ST that could be your dream daily driver
If you’re buying a used car, it’s even more important to research the deals available thoroughly, and be open-minded to the best used car deals on offer. This can often save you lots of money if you’re prepared to consider different models.
To help you find the top used car deals in the UK, our team of experts regularly check the classifieds to look out for top models and great value prices.
This week's top picks include the stylish Volkswagen T-Roc for just over £200 a month and the desirable BMW X1 for well under £300 per month. There’s also our wildcard: the sweet-handling Ford Puma ST that’s both fun and sensible all in one package.
Each week we’ll add a selection of the best used car deals, and move our past picks down the list while they are still available, so you can check those out too.
It’s important to avoid the potential pitfalls that can come with buying a used car, and we’ve got a guide explaining all the things to look out for. We’re featuring mainly nearly-new cars on this list, most of which are still within the manufacturer’s warranty and available on an approved used scheme, but also throwing in a wildcard in case you fancy something a little older and more interesting. However, we haven’t viewed these cars in person, so it’s important to check out their history, and ideally organise an inspection, before going ahead with a purchase.
Read on for our list of the best used car deals.

The Volkswagen T-Roc has proved a smash hit, blending a high seating position with coupe SUV looks and technology shared with the Golf. It’s good to drive, feeling more like a car than a 4x4 from behind the wheel, and it’s equally at home around town or on the motorway. This example is fitted with a thrifty 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, returning up to 47.1mpg. Don’t be put off by this engine’s small size, a turbocharger means it can keep up with traffic without too much fuss. This one owner example comes with an MoT until March 2025.
Used BMW X1: £289 a month
Cars seem to be getting bigger, and this BMW X1 is a great example, being able to accommodate most families, despite being the brand’s smallest SUV. It’s also under the £300 a month mark.

The BMW X1 has evolved over the years, and this generation was a lot more family-friendly than before. Sharing its underpinnings with the MINI Countryman, it’s fun to drive, with a zesty petrol engine capable of decent acceleration and sipping fuel on longer runs. A relatively boxy shape makes for enough rear-seat room for adults and the boot is a decent size too. This approved used example comes with a 12-month unlimited mileage warranty and 12 months of roadside assistance for added reassurance.
Carbuyer wildcard: Ford Puma ST: £18,475
Ford has a reputation for making fun-to-drive cars, and its Puma ST is no exception, sitting somewhere between a small SUV and a hot hatchback, and now available for under £20k.

It might look like a brightly coloured small SUV, but the honeycomb grille, gunmetal alloy wheels and big-bore exhaust pipe are all signs the Puma ST is something a bit special. It’s based on the same building blocks as the Ford Fiesta ST, with similarly sharp suspension and the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine boasting 197bhp. It’s fantastic to drive as a result, with grin-inducing handling and a quick-witted manual gearbox. Unlike the Fiesta, there’s also quite a bit of room in the back and the boot, making this the ideal candidate for your only car.

Are you a fan of ‘squircles’? If so, the squares with rounded edges are a prominent design feature of the quirky Fiat Panda, which is full of Italian style. It’s also incredibly economical to own and run, and while it’s not exactly an SUV, it does offer passengers a slightly elevated position for a great view of the city. With mild hybrid tech, its 1.0-litre petrol engine can deliver a diesel-like 57.6mpg and insurance is also some of the cheapest around. This example has been given an 82-point RAC service and inspection and comes with 12 months of RAC breakdown cover.
Used Peugeot E-208: £210 a month
Think most EVs look too frumpy? Step forward the chic and stylish Peugeot E-208, which looks more like a hot hatch than an egg on wheels. It’s also cheap, costing just over £200 a month.

If you’ve been put off switching to an EV by their reputation for being a bit dull, the Peugeot E-208 could turn all that on its head. Not only is it visually striking, it also benefits from Peugeot’s chassis know-how, so it’s fun to drive on a British B-road. If you don’t mind the somewhat cramped rear seats, the E-208’s punchy electric motor and 200-plus miles of range should make the transition to battery power a smooth one. This fetching yellow example has covered just 14,310 miles from new and comes in the well-equipped GT trim.
Used Suzuki Ignis: £168 a month
The quirky Suzuki Ignis is a superb city car that looks tough and boasts rock bottom running costs. Low mileage examples that are just a few years old can also be financed for well under £200 a month.

Suzuki was one of the first carmakers to spot the potential appeal of an SUV-style city car, and the Ignis is the result. Chunky looks and some extra ground clearance mean you won’t have to teeter over speed bumps and risk bottoming out through potholes. Its 1.2-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine is also very frugal, returning up to 54.1mpg. This example comes in a fetching metallic blue colour and has just 12k miles on the clock, so it’s barely run-in. Kit includes 16-inch alloys, air-conditioning and DAB radio.
Used Volvo XC40: £297 a month
With upmarket looks and features, the Volvo XC40 is a trendy SUV you can get on your driveway for just under £300 per month.

The Volvo XC40 didn’t even exist a decade ago, but now it’s the Swedish manufacturer’s best-selling car. That’s thanks to this model being bang on trend, offering a premium take on the popular SUV recipe. Its desirability is only likely to grow even more now that used examples are plentiful. Cars like this 2021 example, which has only had one owner from new are a great second-hand buy. It’s fitted with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, so it’s capable of 40.4mpg and only costs £190 in annual VED (road tax).
Carbuyer wildcard: Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio: £31,495
If Ferrari were to announce a compact saloon car, we expect the result would be pretty close to this Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio – and this used example is cheaper than a new Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Model: Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo automatic

While the BMW M3 might have somewhat polarising looks, we haven’t heard anybody complaining about the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s design, which seems to pull off the trick of being beautiful and aggressive all at once. It’s also outrageously fast, with a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine sending 503bhp to the rear tyres, for a 0-62mph dash in just 3.9 seconds. Remarkably, its chassis and brakes are able to exploit all this performance to perfection, for a truly addictive experience.

When Kia decided to take on the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes, the Kia Stinger was the resulting model. Long and sleek like a saloon, but with the added practicality of a hatchback, the Stinger is unlike anything else from the brand. For a start, it’s rear-wheel drive, and it was engineered from the outset to serve up excellent handling for keen drivers. Then there’s its 3.3-litre turbocharged petrol V6 with an impressive 361bhp. Not only does this serve up a smooth soundtrack, but it also gets it from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds.
Carbuyer wildcard: Nissan Fairlady Z (350Z): £7,995
For just under £8,000 you could get your hands on a Nissan Fairlady Z (known as the 350Z in the UK) that’s on its way to becoming a future classic with just 50,800 miles, and backed up by the AA’s Dealer Promise.

While the latest Nissan Z sports car hasn’t made it to the UK, its ancestor, the 350Z can still be had on the used market at a bargain price. It’s hard to believe the Nissan 350Z is over 20 years old, as its simple lines and proportions don’t look terribly out of place today – that’s helped by the fact that its successor, the 370Z looked very similar and stayed in production up until 2020. This example is a Fairlady Z – as it was known in Japan – that’s been imported, meaning that rust is less likely to be an issue, and the automatic gearbox will make it more accessible for those that like to rest their left foot. It comes with a six-month warranty, and the dealer has signed the AA’s Dealer Promise, which ensures certain standards are met for the vehicle on sale, and that a minimum of six months’ MOT is offered, and the car can be fully test driven and inspected.
Carbuyer wildcard: Tesla Model S: £15,994
Want to own the Tesla model that put the famous EV carmaker on the map? Stunning examples of the Tesla Model S are now available for miles under £20k.

While the Tesla Roadster was a niche model heavily based on the Lotus Elise, it was the Tesla Model S four-door that really propelled Elon Musk’s carmaker into the mainstream. Even today its sleek Aston Martin-esque styling and futuristic cabin design are sure to appeal to a big audience, and feel fresh for years to come. This 85 example has an ample 362bhp and its range is quoted as 305 miles. It’s only had two owners and comes fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof and its seller offers an optional warranty for up to three years.
