Aston Martin DB9
The Aston Martin DB9 is one of the best looking cars money can buy, whether you opt for the svelte coupe or the convertible Volante. Its sleek, stylish exterior is matched by a hand-crafted interior that's supposed to seat four, although the rear seats are more useful for transporting luggage than people. Aston Martin's glorious 6.0-litre V12 provides the power. It sounds fantastic when overtaking and settles down to a quiet hum when you’re cruising on the motorway. The ride is a little firm, but the interior features very comfortable seats to compensate. Aston Martin has been building sports cars for years, and is well prepared to offer buyers a whole host of bespoke customisation options for both interior and exterior.
- pros:
- Gorgeous looks
- Luxurious interior
- Huge performance from V12 engine
- cons:
- Massive running costs
- Tiny rear seats
- Footballer image
With its incredible 6.0-litre V12 engine and beautiful looks, the Aston Martin DB9 has everything you could want from a supercar. The latest model also comes with adaptive dampers, which means that the DB9 is better than ever on longer journeys. Inside, the cabin is comfortable, with plenty of leg and head-room, although the rear seats are more suitable for luggage than people. The boot has just about enough space to make it useful. It's expensive, and you can expect seriously high running costs due to its thirsty V12.
- pros:
- Gorgeous looks
- Luxurious interior
- Engine sounds great with the roof down
- cons:
- Huge running costs
- Thirsty V12 engine
- Jerky downshifts from auto gearbox
Very few cars on the road manage to combine the good looks and comfortable high-speed cruising ability of the Aston Martin DB9 Volante. With the roof down and the 6.0-litre V12 growling, the DB9 is a special place to spend time. Replacing the coupe model's metal roof with a folding canvas top has done little to alter the DB9's ability in corners, and the car is a delight to drive over longer distances.
