Audi Q7
With its massive size and imposing looks, the seven-seat Audi Q7 has enormous road presence and a versatile cabin. The downside is that its gigantic size makes it tricky to park and fuel consumption is heavy. The quattro four-wheel-drive system and raised ride height means that it can cope off-road, but it's not as accomplished as a Land Rover Discovery 4 - the Q7 was designed more for on-road use.
- pros:
- Spacious cabin
- Strong performance
- Imposing looks
- cons:
- Cumbersome size
- High running costs
- Not great off-road
Audi has plenty of past experience with four-wheel drive, but the Q7 – the firm's first SUV - is more at home on the tarmac than it is attempting to scale a mountain. The Q7 majors on comfort, with its spacious, well built cabin. It's also quite sporty to drive for such a big car, and the engines are powerful. Recent tweaks to the diesels have made it more economical and helped to reduce emissions.
