Paint work poor, lots of small scratches. It's heavy on tyre wear. Good for towing and has been reliable, but uses quite a lot of AdBlue.

What's the one thing you like most about your car?

Reliable

Sold my nissan pickup 18 months ago to buy an all singing all dancing range rover sport ... BAD MOVE .... My nissan was cheaper to run cheaper to service and a hundred times more reliable !! So I sold the sport two days ago and I've decided to buy another Navara but the V6 this time . It's got every comfort that the range rover had and for a fraction of the price . My old Nissan never gave me an ounce of trouble and I abused it every day for years . I miss my old pickup but I know I'm gonna love the new one :)

Robust mechanics. Had two Navaras over past seven years, driving up to 30,000 miles pa. sole issue has been a fuel valve failure on current vehicle after 95,000 miles.

The best vehicle I've owned. It's not a sporty-handling car and anyone who expects that will be disappointed, but as a load-lugging truck, that's also comfortable to drive on the motorway one end of the country to the other, it can't be beaten. I can't agree with the review calling it thirsty - I average 33mpg and it'll do 38-39mpg on long hauls if driven economically.

There was a wheezing noise coming from the engine one day, then all of a sudden the engine went a bit funny. I stopped to get a mechanic to look at it and he told me the turbo has blown and was sucking oil out of the engine. Now I've got to look for a reasonable place to get it fixed.

Having done 50000 with full service history 2 of six bigs ends gone. Nissan only offer half engine at £6500+ Vat and fitting costs. Currently have complaint in with Nissan UK but don't hold out much hope. All avenues to obtaining shells have come to no result so at present I have £10000 of scrap. Last year oil intercooler went costing £1000 I have owned 2 Navara and 1 Nissan tipper over the last 10years so even loyalty means nothing. Result is new model Ford Ranger ordered for February

We work in construction and forestry and this is my 2nd D40 Navara double cab in a row, for me it does something of everything and it does them pretty well. I also tow trailers quite often so the vehicle is given a good testing all round. I find the vehicle is comfortable, roomy and very practical, even towing the maximum weight the fuel consumption rarely goes lower than 26mpg, as for road holding mine goes around corners like its on rails but I guess you have to have the right tyres and know how to drive a big 4x4 properly. I would buy another one in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone.

I bought my Navara late 2013, with 150,000 miles on the clock but looks and drives perfectly. As with any used car, you're potentially "buying someone else's problems" so to speak, which unfortunately on this occasion was the case. I had to replace both rear axle bearings within the first few weeks of driving the vehicle, due to the stress it causes to the drivetrain. Luckily, parts for the D40 Navara ARE CHEAP, despite the expensive Japanese spare part trails you hear of people going on (I got two rear axle bearing kits for less than £100, and helped fit them at the garage, works perfectly). If you look on eBay for parts, they are cheap, depending on what it is naturally? I mean if you're look for a breakers yard full axle, you're looking at £700 with delivery, but a new interior door lining? You're talking £40, easy, which for the size of the car isn't bad at all really? As a drivers car, this feels like a truly indestructible machine. I have driven mine in all sorts of conditions, off road, steep slopes, sand dunes and pretty much the length of the UK. Considering my Navara was previously owned by a building company, it has been pretty well worn in, but I picked up loads of replacement interior parts (gear knobs, door handles, switches etc.) and it looks as good as new! I could go on, but honestly this car did not disappoint me at all, it was a great buy and make sure you check out the Navar forums, which are pretty dated now, but have loads of useful information on them! Summary: Great car, can be cheap to maintain (if you know where to look), can be hefty on diesel round town, great off road, great all rounder for a pickup.

I bought the Navara Aventura from new because it was the best looking of all the pick-ups at the time and the most powerful. Running around town I usually got about 28-29 mpg, and on longer trips including motorways up to 38 mpg regularly. Pick-up from a standing start was abysmal but it was a truck after all and I got used to it. Servicing was not cheap but affordable, but spare parts were very expensive. On the down side at 160,000 miles and eight years I suffered a complete gearbox failure, a leak had developed in the gearbox and allowed 70% of the fluid to leak out unnoticed causing the gearbox to cook beyond repair. On further investigation both radiators were badly corroded and the auto fluid one completely blocked. For the want of a simple fluid level indicator on the box all would have been saved. After only eight years it was a financial write-off. Having said all that I would still seriously consider buying another one.
