Infiniti G saloon (2009-2013)

Infiniti's new G series saloon offers buyers in the market for a compact executive saloon, something genuinely unique. It's unusual styling means standing outfrom the crowd won't be a problem, while a 0-62mph time of only 5.8 seconds proves performance is equally impressive. Inside, levels of standard equipment are high, leg and head room are generous and good quality materials mean that the cabin is a great place to be. At £33,000 for the entry-level model the Infiniti is not cheap though, and with only one engine variant currently available, the same 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine found in the 370Z, efficiency is low at just below 27mpg and high CO2 emissions mean that road tax is expensive.

With only the 3.7-litre V6 petrol currently avilable in the G series line-up, expect mileage of just below 27mpg if you drive very sensibly. Poor emissions mean that road tax is expensive, too. And the G series' expensive insurance costs and poor residual value mean that owning one can be very expensive.

Powered by the same 3.7-litre V6 engine as Nissan's 370Z, the Infiniti G series, manages an impressive balance of performance, with 0-62mph taking only 5.8 seconds and also excellent refinement. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard but there's also a very good seven-speed automatic gearbox available as an option. Through the corners the Infiniti has lots of grip and the steering is very responsive.

The Infiniti's stylish, comfortable interior, generous levels of standard equipment and refined ride combine to deliver a very enjoyable driving experience whether you are in the driving seat or a passenger.

Unlike the coupe version of the G Series, the saloon has good levels of space in the rear, and although the boot is relatively small, it is still very competitive with its rivals. Head room is good throughout the cabin, too.

Infiniti is known for its impressive reliability record, and excellent levels of customer service. As a result the G37 saloon should provide owners with very little problems, and those that do occur, should be expertly dealt with.

Infiniti's striking new G series saloon starts from £33,000 for the entry-level model. For this you get generous levels of standard equipment, plus an extremely comfortable and refined ride. But, poor residual value, high emissions, expensive insurance and a lack of engine variety means that the G37 saloon is not the most finacially appealing car in its class.
