The new Kia Stinger is the brand’s most powerful car ever
Pick the Stinger GT and you’ll get a 360bhp 3.3-litre petrol engine, complete with a brace of turbochargers
The standard Stinger has a 252bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre engine
A diesel Stinger is also on its way, as is a fully-electric version
The powerful Kia Stinger GT has grabbed headlines
That potent V6 engine shoots the Stinger from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds
The Stinger GT will go up against the Audi S4 and Mercedes C-Class AMG C43 – though it should be cheaper than these rivals
Four-wheel drive will be offered as an option for those who’d like a little more grip and reassurance
Kia is also fitting both petrol Stingers with a mechanical limited-slip differential, which gives greater grip when cornering
The team behind the Stinger was headed up by Albert Biermann, who used to run BMW’s M division
Attention was also applied to the Stinger’s design, which was spearheaded by the man behind the original Audi TT’s interior
The Stinger is adorned with air vents and scoops, while the wide bumpers and low stance leave its potency in no doubt
The Stinger’s occupants sit low, with the driver facing a leather steering wheel, analogue dials & a colour LCD screen
This last item displays data about fuel consumption and route guidance, but can also measure lap times & g-forces
2.0-litre cars will have 18-inch alloys, while the Stinger GT will have 19-inch wheels
A head-up display will also be available, though it’s not clear if this will be optional or standard
To handle all the power, Kia is including plenty of safety kit with the Stinger
Autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistance and a tiredness warning system should feature on all cars
The Stinger GT, meanwhile, has upgraded brakes from Brembo
