A a pensioner, i need reliability and durability. I have found that quality in mercedes which has been my choice for the last three cars i have owned

Disappointing build quality - squeeks, rattles, etc from the dash/trim/headlining/etc. Also something loose inside a box section that rattles. On its 3rd visit back to mercedes - this time for 10 days.

Top family car, practical. Also ok when driving quickly. Could do with being cheaper to tax and run. Saying this, i would buy another one if financies permitt.

Extraordinarily practical and multi-faceted. Can be used as an executive limousine for four large people, a large-ish van or an mpv, in sun, rain or snow. Very good acceleration for its size and weight and on a run returns 31 - 32 mpg. Despite its size, the design is more restrained and discreet than an out and out 4x4. A superb car deserving far higher sales.
