Mercedes CLA revealed
The new compact saloon Mercedes CLA will go on sale in March.
Mercedes has revealed the CLA, an all-new compact saloon model that goes on sale in March and will cost from around £21,000.
The CLA is almost exactly the same as the A-Class hatchback underneath, so it’s the same width and height, too. But the more practical body, featuring a larger boot, is 338mm longer than the A-Class.
The styling features a mixture of cues from the larger CLS saloon, including the swooping roofline and boldly creased flanks. Those flowing lines help to make the CLA the most aerodynamic car on sale today, which will also improve fuel economy.
The engine range consists of two petrol units and one diesel. The entry-level engine is a 120bhp petrol in the CLA 180, while the quickest is the 208bhp petrol in the CLA 250. The 168bhp CLA 220 CDI is most efficient, claiming 62.8mpg and CO2 emissions of just 109g/km.
The CLA is full of tech, including a system that can automatically brake the car if it senses an accident, and iPhone integration that now includes voice control through Siri.
