Ford will install its award-winning small-capacity petrol engine into the all-new Mondeo, following on from the Focus, B-MAX, Fiesta and C-MAX.
The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will be the smallest engine ever fitted to a large family car like the Mondeo. Forming part of Ford’s new European product rollout, the new model will aim for best-in-class fuel economy and emissions of less than 130g/km – while also delivering the power of a considerably larger engine.
“Today’s smartest technology offers customers more from less,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president, product development, Ford of Europe. “This is as true of engines as it is of computers and smartphones, and by equipping the all-new Mondeo in Europe with our acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, we are delivering cutting-edge technology that delivers a very real and tangible customer benefit.”
