Mercedes SL prices announced

The new Mercedes SL-class Roadster will be priced from £72,495, when it goes on sale in the UK in June.

Two models re available from launch, the entry-level SL 350 and the SL 500, priced from £83,445.

Due to the extensive use of aluminium in its construction, the new SL is up to 140kg lighter and up to 30 per cent more efficient than its predecessor.

The SL 350 is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that delivers 302bhp. It is capable of 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds and has a 155mph electronically limited top speed.

The SL 350 returns 37.7mpg and produces emissions of 176g/km.

The SL 500 features a 4.7-litre V8 turbo petrol engine producing 429bhp. It can go from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and shares the Sl350s 155mph top speed.

The SL 500 is capable of 30.7mpg and produces emissions of 214g/km.

Both models come as standard with leather sports seats, xenon headlights, an online media system and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.

The SL 63 AMG and SL 65 AMG high-performance models will join the line-up later in the year.
