Ford has revealed first pictures and new details of its all-new Focus.
The small family hatchback made its public debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in October. The newcomer goes on sale in the UK in January 2011.
At launch, a range of five-door and estates will be available – and these will join the Focus based C-Max and seven-seat Grand C-Max MPVs in the firm’s fast growing line-up of practical family cars.
The UK engine range will include fuel-efficient, low CO2 engines, including a new turbocharged 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol and updated 1.6 and 2.0-litre TDCi diesels.
Ford’s fuel-saving stop and start system will be standard on 1.6-litre EcoBoost and 1.6-litre TDCi engines, with the later producing just 109g/km of CO2. An ultra-efficient Focus Econetic – with expected economy of around 70mpg will follow later in 2011.
Though exact specifications are still being worked out, equipment levels will be generous. New technologies will include an active parking system, plus an accident prevention system that works at low speeds, and applies the brakes if it senses a collision is imminent.
