The Skoda Superb Estate range has been boosted by the addition of a new Outdoor version, starting from £26,465 and on sale now.
All Outdoor models come with four-wheel drive and there’s a choice of three engines. Kicking off the range is a 1.8 TSI turbocharged petrol engine, with 158bhp and a manual gearbox, while buyers can also pick between two diesel engines. The 138bhp 2.0 TDI comes with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox and costs £28,100; the more powerful 168bhp 2.0 TDI comes with a six-speed manual only and costs £27,600.
Those prices are around £3,000 more than the equivalent Superb Estate in SE specification and, to justify the price increase, Skoda has added a leather steering wheel, Bluetooth, hill-hold control and heated windscreen-washer nozzles. It also gets rugged plastic cladding around the bottom of the body to help protect the bodywork and a set of 18-inch Luxon alloy wheels.
Fuel economy and CO2 emissions are unchanged compared with the standard Superb Estate models, so both of the 2.0 TDI models manage 44.8mpg and CO2 emissions of 165g/km. The 1.8 TSI petrol-powered car boasts figures of 34.5mpg and 191g/km.
As with all Skoda models the Outdoor comes complete with a 30,000-mile/ three-year warranty.
