Peugeot 208 unveiled
Peugeot unveils the new 207 supermini replacement - the lighter, more compact Peugeot 208.
Available in the UK in the summer of 2012, the new Peugeot 208 supermini will compete with the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta.
More compact and lighter than the outgoing 207, the new 208 is also more spacious, featuring larger rear seats plus a bigger boot. As a result of the weight saving measures, Peugeot promises that the 208 will also offer a much-improved driving experience.
Peugeot's latest, more upmarket styling language features a recessed 'spine' that runs the length of the car beginning from a foating grille and finishing between 'boomerang' rear lamps. Noticeable in the roof and bonnet both the three and five door body styles incorporate the new feature.
Inside, the 208 has an all-new, more elevated instrument panel, a smaller steering wheel and a large touch screen control device.
In total five models will be offered, four of which will feature stop/start.
All diesel models return less than 99g/km of CO2, with eco-models capable of up to 87g/km and 83.1mpg. Petrol models include a new three-cylinder unit in 1.0 and 1.2-litre form, capable of up to 99g/km and 65.7mpg.
Complete model listing and UK prices are yet to be confirmed.
