The full Volvo V40 range is now on sale, including the newly unveiled performance R-Design and rugged Cross Country models.
Despite the performance and off-road enhancements, the R-Design and Cross Country models can both be had with sub-100g/km CO2 emissions if you opt for the V40 D2 specification, powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine.
The Volvo V40 hatchback was launched in the UK in July, although the R-Design and Cross Country models won’t arrive until next spring. It’s available with a choice of six engines, including a top-of-the-range five-cylinder 2.5-litre petrol performance model, which can cover the 0-60mph sprint in 5.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 155mph.
In addition to the 1.6-litre D2 diesel engine, the V40 comes with a choice of two 2.0-litre engines. The D3 has 148bhp, and the D4 has 175bhp, and both are available with a choice of either manual or automatic gearboxes.
Nick Connor, managing director of Volvo Car UK, said: "For years now, Volvo has offered the solution for drivers who want a premium vehicle experience with low emissions and low running costs, but who don't want to sacrifice equipment, styling or safety features."
"Put simply, the V40 delivers unprecedented choice in the premium hatchback sector without compromise for the customer. Our customers can enjoy low fuel and tax benefits thanks to sub-100g/km CO2 emissions, yet still have the luxury of SE Lux spec if they want to − plus they get to choose from the V40, V40 R-Design or V40 Cross Country bodystyles."
