Don't be fooled by the Ford range - this is a big car, arguably two sizes bigger than the Focus despite the lack of another model inbetween. It is longer and taller (not sure if wider) than my neighbour's E-Class and 5-Series. A great family car, it carries 5 (and all of their luggage) with ease and is an exemplary cruiser, it is still agreeably quiet at 80mph and is never phased by cross-winds, standing water or heavy rain and the brakes in particular are impressive. Yet it still feels fun enough for a car this size on a fast A-road and makes as rapid real-life progress as most would want. South of France for a family holiday? No problem. However, on anything twisty it can start to come unstuck pretty quick - it is a tonne and a half and nearly 5 metres by 2. Dash is a little dated but interior is good quality and like most Fords, comes packed with technology as standard that doesn't even figure on many rival's lists. My Titanium X came with leather seats that heat AND cool, active cornering headlights, auto-lights and wipers, front and rear parking sensors, DAB, Bluetooth with USB and voice command.

there were a few niggles when I bought the car, such as a broken suspension mount bearing and a couple of dry bushes, which were causing squeaks and rattles which were fixed FOC by the dealer

Reliability has been good but last year it needed a new clutch and dual mass flywheel and early this year needed a camshaft position sensor

No serious issues. Heating system needed warranty work in yr2 after failing.

Only one real fault in 8 years - gassing failure in aircon. Everything else wearing out of usual parts. Battery and exhaust lasted unusually long time. Just beginning to show rust after 12 years.

Only done 35k in 4 years and I have been through approximately 10 tyres (kerbs, speed ramps and bad luck) 2 Sets of Front Discs and Pads, 1 set rear discs, 2 sets of rear pads, 1 Power Steering Hose, 1 Complete Clutch and thats just what I can remember

Generally the car has been fine, just wear and tear. A few electrical problems but nothing to worry about. Overall, considering the cars age I'm very happy with its reliability.

Aside a few electrical faults such as 12v power sockets and every now and again whilst driving the dash will power down briefly, the car has been very reliable so far. Now on 37000 miles

Over the 2 years i've had it, its had a new turbo, new air inlet pipe, water leak meaning it needed a new pollen filter. Now it's doing 'limp mode' on average about once a week so will probably end up in the garage in the near future for a big job!
