The car is almost 7years old and has had all recommended servicing etc. until recently at 37,500 miles when the intermittent warning light came on. Up until then I loved the car and could find no serious fault with it. However a diagnostic check resulted in being advised I needed a new dashboard cluster, and on reading other reviews I see that has been quite a common fault. The dealer priced this job in excess of £1000 and would not tell me what the result would be if I didn't have this done. I have driven all sorts of cars for the last 60 years, some doing well in excess of 100,000 miles when I was working, and never, ever, have I come across this problem, making me assume it is peculiar to Hyundai and should be sorted by them, but they refuse point blank to have anything to do with it, citing the car's age. I maintain it must be a manufacturing fault. Rightly or wrongly it has sickened me with the car, especially as I learned how low its resale value is, and consequently I have put my daughter off buying a new one for herself and would not be recommending it to anyone, something I would not have said 3 months ago.

I bought this car from a Hyundai dealership. Up until last week I had very few issues. It was also serviced by the dealer for 3 of the last 4 years. It has only 70,000 miles. Last week there was a loud bang which I have subsequently found out was one of the pistons smashing off the top of the engine, shattering and destroying the engine! I'm still paying it off on HP till next March! I've never had a car do this before let alone one which is only 6 years old. I don't know how I could trust a Hyundai ever again.

Problems so far: Air Conditioning (twice), Corrosion of alloy wheels, Drivers door handle not operative. Constant blowing of interior light. Battery not holding it's charge, (replaced after 2.5 years from new) Auto transmission juddering at certain speed. Numerous faults with ESP. Servicing costs at Hyundai dealership can be high.

Do not really have a problem with reliability although recently it has been slow to start. Turned over rather longer than usual before it fired up and the clutch has started to make a screeving noise when reversing uphill from a standstill

the brakes of the car are very bad and every time i hit the brakes the car is not stable and feels like its on water especially from the back and i don't know what to do , i don't feel secure each time i use the brake, pls need help :(

A good car overall. Lacks a few features that were standard on the previous car such as auto lights and wipers and all round powwer windows. Not as economical as literature states.

So far very happy with the car but perhaps time will tell however very pleased with a 5 year guarentee., I still have about 3 years left which for a secondhand car is very good.

The car is very practical. It gives good performance for a small engined family car and is spacious. It has 108 bhp which is a lot more than my old seat leon. The extras on my car are fantastic given the price.Folding Mirrors, esp, full ipod usage through stereo, electric sunroof.I Could go on. The car is reliable but i find the clutch very difficult to get used to and other people have noticed this too. The car has a few niggling rattles that seem to come from the dashboard and speaker areas but thats it. I sometimes get a petrol smell when starting it up but i'm told thats normal. I don't like how the air con comes on automatically but for the price paid and the warranty the car is an absolute bargain. I look at other cars and the extras offered are pretty poor compared to my car.

Not a great looker but very well engineered and solidly built, with superb reliability. The quality interior is spacious and comfortable, it's very well equipped for the price and everything works really well. Pleasant to drive and it feels very safe: responsive steering, good abs and effective esp. Very light and precise gear change. Suspension tuning seems to favour handling over ride, so it's a bit jittery on our terrible british roads; but that's a compromise i can live with. The 1.4 petrol has low gear ratios so it feels nippy in town but a bit buzzy on the motorway, and it rarely betters 42mpg. Overall a great car, which has exceeded my expectations. Cheap, but not at all nasty.

Reliable and comfortable. Well engineered and capable of withstanding the uk's poor roads. Economical and relatively inexpensive compared to the other reviewers' favourites. Don't be brandwashed its just a car. 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, do you get that with a golf?

A great car with excellent ride and comfort good performance for a1.4 build quality much higer than could have hoped for in a hyundai fantastic reliability and have not owned a car as good in24 years of driving. the brakes on this car are the best i have seen

My car has done everything required from it with ease and total reliability. Build quality is above expectation with no squeaks, rattles or other from the interior or exterior. All the family are comfortable while travelling in it and two friends have purchased identical cars on the back of my experience.

I believe the hyundai i30 is one of the most underrated cars on the road. Indeed as a car manufacturer, hyundai offer the best cars for reliability, excellent design and are unique as well as individual. I am not in any way influenced by the kudos or mythical properties of a "badge" and hyundai does not have to try to be the best, it is the best, hyundai leads while other car manufacturer's follow.

This is the 2nd hynudia i30 i have owned in 12 months. Changed it under the hyundai happy returns scheme. The first car was damaged by the dealer. Was not happy with the repair, but could not get any satisfaction from hyundai uk. Even after sending a recorded letter to the md, who never answered. Both the first car interior and this one rattle and buzz. Dealer cannot seem to put this right. Being made redundent made me choose this cheap make. Have always had ford or toyota in the past and there is no comparison. You get what you pay for.

An excellent value car with all the extras included. The only critisism i can find is that it lacks low down power which shows when driving in town and pulling away, seems to be needed to be revved more than desired.

It great i liked the last 1 so much i bought the same car again and i`ve never don`t that before. Great value, reliability, comfort. Only 1 other car comes close and thats the cee`d but hyundai warranty is better.

I am very happy with my car and it has been a joy driving it for the first year. I just hope the car continues to perform well for the next couple of years and when it comes to upgrading the car, i am hoping the the manufacturer has improved on the current model. I am very impressed with the manufacturer, and especially compared to some of the german manufacturers which are very expensive to maintain.

I miss the boot/storage in my skoda octavia, but otherwise the i30 is ideal for the limited mileage i do and the £30 road fund is a big bonus.
