Review
I bought this car to replace a Honda Insight hybrid car which I had for 6 years with no trouble at all. I went for the Hyundai Ioniq plug in Hybrid because most of my journeys are to and from work and the distance is only 6 miles each way. This means I could go to work and back on electric power all the time and plug in at home. The car is comfortable and was quiet until it developed an annoying rattle on the tailgate. It went back to a Hyundai garage four times before finally they changed the tailgate latch. This seemed to have solved the rattle but it is starting to appear again. Then I wanted to adjust the wing mirror at night and noticed the backlight in the door panel switches was not working so I could not see any switches. it is back to Hyundai again to have this fixed. Overall, I'm very disappointed by the build quality of this car. It has spoiled the excitement of having a new car as it has been back to the garage five times in 6 months so far.
Reliability

2 out of 5

Very disappointed with the reliability so far on this car as it has been back to the garage five times in 6 months. They had to replace a faulty tailgate latch which developed a loud rattle. Then the drivers door switch illumination failed so I could not see any switches at night. These sort of things should not be failing on a new car.
Performance
The performance is good, especially when you put it into sport mode. This does make quite a difference in the power and acceleration compared to the normal driving mode.
Running Cost

5 out of 5

As I do most of my journeys in electric mode the running costs are very low. I rarely have to put petrol in unless I go on a long journey. The MPG meter is showing 99.9 all the time (due to mostly using electric mode) which is not much use. For a car that claims an equivalent MPG of over 200 MPG in electric mode, the display can only show up to 99.9 which does not make sense.
