Overall we are pleased with the soul. it was bought as a second car to the main family car a vauxhall zafira. The higher driving position is good, the overall build is good, there is not the soft touch trim as in the more main stream vauxhall and fords. but the internal cabin is smart. I like the ipod connect surround stereo and the reversing camera with rear view mirror screen are very good. we like the styling it stands out from the crowd. As its one of the specials with the 18" alloys these can make the ride a bit rough on the poorer roads. We find the clutch a bit sensitive, but overall the standard spec, the look and running costs we are pleased with soul. Kia have come on leaps and bounds in all areas with cars and can only get better.

I love the driving position ,and the performance, the economy however is below par, as is the ride and paint finish, i bought the soul because its a better driving position than the ceed which i went for originally, i really should have bought that instead, i thought the soul would be a ceed in all respects but just a bit better ride height, it isnt , what a shame !!

I am very impressed with the kia soul and surprised that i have not seen many on the road. It's an all round nice vehicle and has the "tardis" effect, small on the outside but quite roomy inside, particularly in the back, with loads of leg room for passengers and carrying bulky items. Was a bit dubious at first but very pleased with the purchase and the five year warranty. Managed to get a saving of £2k due to government scrappage deal as well.

One serious problem since new: a loose connection in the engine management system which totally hamstrung the car. But it was fixed quite quickly.

It's a Motability leased car...my only running costs are diesel and other consumable fluids. I drive mostly locally in my rural home setting, with occasional long trips. MPG varies accordingly.

Fantastic styling. Get loads of comments from strangers and a lot of interest in the car. Been 100% reliable and cheap to run. Rear suspension is appalling though and crashes and bumps on rough roads, but we have one of the earliest models before they were fitted with the uk suspension which was modified by lotus. I suspect the newer models are much better. Some of the internal plastics could be better too, but kia have also upgraded these on later models.

When driving over rough surfaces it is felt in the car pot holes feel as if you are falling into at times mpg stated by manufactures not true only averages 40 to 45 on a long trip 15 miles short of the manufactures statement. Had a 1998 skoda felicia 1.3 estate did the job just as well and appears to be a better built car even though over 10 years older. Quite disappointed of kia soul car appears to have no soul or character
