There cannot be many owners, who would part-exchange their two year old Fiat 500 Abarth 695 for an Up GTi, but that's exactly what i did, simply because the offer on the table was so good, i simply could not turn it down. I already own a Move Up 60hp, so i was not buying a VW Up for the first time. The main reasons for wanting an Up GTi were for its build quality and reliability. My Move Up has been totally reliable, and even though it's a bit slow, it covers long journey's with ease, and returns impressive fuel efficiency. The GTi model, represents great value for money, and driving it is more than a pleasure, with very cheap motoring guaranteed. The GTi is a step up in quality over my Move Up, and i've easily achieved in excess of 70mpg from it, over a long journey to South Wales. It's a car that improves on the already brilliant design of the standard VW Up, but with the added flair of driving enjoyment, and interior refinement.

My up GTI has really strong engine performance, that's torquey and offers good economy. The smooth clutch, gearbox and steering make it easy to get on with - plus it has good accommodation for passengers and a good driving position. The only drawbacks, are the abysmal headlights on dipped beam and the 40 section tyres are extremely unforgiving on road irregularities.

The car itself is ok. However the driver's seat is the worst I have ever had in a car. Think it’s designed for someone 6ft. The head rest that is fixed surely is illegal this should be a safety device. Not safe when it’s positioned wrong on your neck. The system for WiFi and bluetooth is the worst I have ever had. It works through you phone uses all your data. Think they have got shares in a phone company? Then if you don’t use the sat nav for a month you have to reconnect it. Very, very disappointed, wish I hadn’t bought it.
