It is the most fit for purpose car i have ever owned. Whether taking the dog to the beach or 4 adults to the french alps it takes everything in it's stride and i always arrive at my destination feeling fresh.

Other than the gearbox (horrible delay when pulling away) and the torque converter spinning of low gear urgency - would buy a manual of the same car or swap.

Excellent. Has 80000 miles and with the exception of 1 exhaust gas valve replacement which was replaced the same day, have had no problems.

Fabulous car, comfortable, easyto drive, real family car but still stylish. Excellent fuel economy and reduced parking costs in london together with cheaper road tax you can't go wrong with this car.

Excellent long distance cruiser and not too bad on b roads either. Significantly more practical/reliable than my previous bmw

Car is very good apart from, m. P.g . Has never reached manufacturers' figers ,dealer did not sort it out it took the aa patrol to improve mpg and rectify the falt, after vehicle broke down volvo did not seem botherd by this.. Hence no moore volvos

I have a Volvo S40 & V50 - that are the best cars I have ever owned in 7 years. I have spent £250 on a rear brake cylinder on S40 as it is from 2008 and has 32476 miles from new. The V50 is 2011 top of the range 1.6 diesel.

My second volvo v50 and even better than my first. Reliable, fast, economical - 44 average mpg (a 2.4 ltr diesel with auto box), very comfortable and stylish. I always look forward to driving it as it is better than previous golf gti's, rover, vectra, audi's, and my previous v50 2.0 ltr diesel. As i have had major surgery to my spine, i especially appreciate the superb seating. Servicing is very reasonable for a quality car - i use an independent volvo speciallist. Dealers are way too expensive.

Since ford took over volvo they have become unreliable and less comfortable than the previous models/ownership. My v50 feels more like a focus than a volvo (which of course... it is) I intend to buy vw or bmw or merc next because they are traditional and have retained their identity to the driver.

I think that this car is an excellent all-rounder, it has style, comfort, economy, power and is every bit as good as the bmw 530d m sport that it replaced (if not better).

Very comfortable rider, excellent looker, safety features high, economy on a run good, build quality good ... only real downside, approx 38 to gallon around town driving ... but all good points massively outweigh economy around town ... a real eyecatcher, well bulit, safe ... good drive and thoroughly reccomended to used buy

A spacious well performing family car, with exceptional performance, spacious boot space, i can get two sets of junior football goals plus passengers, pulls my caravan without really any effort at all, an excellent all rounder.

New Alternator fitted, New Air Conditioning Condenser fitted,. Air Conditioning Re-Gassed Twice, 3 New Gas Discharge Light fitted over the last 3 years, Water Leaks in the Boot Area.

The v50 is still a good car despite its age, the 1.6 drive e gives suprisingly good performance and fantastic economy, it feels much tighter and more solid than my previous volvo v70 57 model

Very pleasantly surprised. I downsized from an audi a6 because of poor economy. So far the volvo has been a breath of fresh air compared to the functional but drab german vehicles that i am used to driving.

Car very comfortable motorway cruiser. Volvo dealership are ok - but could be a lot better - especially when compared to my wife's skoda local dealership. Disappointed that the air conditioning compressor was damaged due to a'stone' and was not covered by the warranty

When buying a used car you never know what you are getting, when I bought it the car had a faulty aircon motor which the seller sorted, however I did have a gearbox problem that cost me Ł450 to sort out and the other week I had to buy a new battery. 2 MOT's have cost me some new pads and a new suspension arm

I am very happy with the style and performance of the volvo v50 r design. It has all the toys that a boy could wish for. I am worried that the clutch needed to be replaced when only 29k miles have been completed. The build quality and cabin comfort has been 1st class. I am ighly likely to buy anoher volvo providing that the marque stays competitive and doesn't start to compete with audi and bmw with regards to pricing. The product has increased by over 4 k in the last 2 1/2 years. This may prevent me from purchasing another.

Shame volvo do not market lpg cars in the uk any more. Until the price differential between lpg and petrol diminishess enourmously the i will continue to buy petrol and converty to lpg

Good quality fittings, hard ride, poor rear legroom, reliable, good aircon. It's called an estate but is really a smallish hatch in terms of loadspace. Only bought because i need to carry a whhelchair.

I'm enjoying my v50 far more than i was expecting. The ride in particular is excellent, particularly in comparison to audi and bmw, and the seats are a revelation. Despite only having a 1.6 diesel engine, it pulls surprisingly well. The compromise between performance and economy is extremely easy to live with.

Nice car when it is working but the minute it passed 60,000 miles it started to fall apart. Since i have owned it it has had: New dual mass flywheel New power steering pump New headlight washers 2 new wheel bearings New turbo pressure sensor New battery The car has been fully serviced and does nearly all its miles on the motorway so has had an easy life. Not reliable enough for a brand that sells itself on quality. Won't be buying another volvo for many years

No real issues with the car except for the oil can only be filled to 5 seveths full during a service because of the Diesel Particulate Filter. Only a Volvo expert would know this and it throws up warning on the dash. Main dealers (only ones with the full software) charge Ł120 to plug it in and find the fault.

A real feeling of luxury and i don't have to worry about how hard i push the throttle. It has never achieved less than 48 mpg and on average it has managed 56 mpg and the tax was only £20! It is fast enough on acceleration but you don't require a neck brace and it cruises on the french motorways at 85mph and 55mpg. The only downside is the loading room but i knew that when i was buying it. A great car.
