Hot car deal: understated cool with the Volvo XC60 for £390 per month

Our hot car deal for 8th July is the upmarket but understated Volvo XC60 SUV for £390 per month

While we may sound like a broken record saying it, there’s no denying that family SUVs are very in fashion at the moment, and many brands have added a premium touch to their SUVs to help them stand out. The Volvo XC60 is one such example of this, offering understated cool and an upmarket feel in a market of some – dare we say it – over-the-top German rivals, and now it’s available to lease for just under £390 per month.

This great leasing deal is from our parent company Carwow and requires an upfront rental cost of just £3,508.92, followed by 24 monthly payments of £389.88. For that, you get to drive up to 5,000 miles per year, which will be more than enough for buyers doing the school run and trips to the supermarket, though regular long-distance commuters might need to look for a deal with a higher mileage limit.

The model in question comes in Plus Black Edition trim, which is a special variant of the mid-spec Plus that gets sporty black accents on the exterior and grille to complement the exclusive Onyx Black paint job, large 21-inch alloy wheels, a black interior with Nappa leather sports seats.

The XC60 comes with the sort of tech and niceties you’d expect of a luxury car, such as heated seats front and back, a heated steering wheel and wireless charging. There’s also great driver assistance tech such as a 360-degree camera to help with parking, blind spot monitoring and a brilliant pilot assist function that can steer and stay in lane, slow down and speed up at a cruise with minimal input from the driver in motorway settings.

This version of the XC60 is the B5, which means it’s powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid assistance for improved efficiency. It’s quiet and relaxing, particularly at low speeds, and its 247bhp is more than enough for most buyers. Thanks to the added traction of four-wheel drive, it even does 0-62mph in a respectable 6.9 seconds – that said, it’s better suited to calm, leisurely driving while you sit back and enjoy the Nappa leather.

Above all, we like the Volvo XC60 because it’s unpretentious, understated and upmarket. It’s a premium car that doesn’t have to shout about it, and a car that’s perfect for buyers wanting something a little more left-field – maybe now’s your chance to see what all the fuss is about?
