This is a car that puts a smile on your face, and is so much fun to drive. But it also has those annoying things that are just typical Alfa. The build quality is something of a let down, mine has a defective rear seal, so after driving in the wet or leaving the car in a heavy downpour I open the boot to find dribbles of water down the windscreen and in the boot lock area. The front windscreen seals end up falling off, due to the way Alfa pushes them in under the windscreen ( it requires the windscreen to be removed to fix). some what of a shock when on the motorway at 70 these things start flapping!! The rear passenger door when it rains, shows up the inner seal has failed behind the door trim. So you have nice little puddles left on the sill. The rear driver-sides passenger door outer seals has failed, too, leaving water between the inner and out seals. If you like a quiet drive to work, forget it, the squeaks will mean you have to drive with the radio on. Certain cable protectors under the bonnet get worn away by the engine cover, too. I recommend you keep an eye on things under the bonnet. Mine has only just done 42,000 miles, and within the period i have owned it, always starts first time and -depending on the was I drive, travelling to work on B roads I get around 60 mpg. Using the Dynamic modes on the motorway I get low 40s. The driving modes change the whole feel of the car, with Michelin cross-climate tyres a good match to the alfa it had no issues getting to work in the snow of 2018. As others have commented the start-stop doesn't start or stop in the winter, because the minimum battery voltage seems to be set far too high. In the whole the car is so much fun to drive, and really responsive which outweighs the build issues. My previous Golf was much better built, but no way near as fun to drive.

Bought the car when it was just 3 years old and only 12000 miles covered. Squeaks from the plastic dashboard area soon started and can be annoying. Be very wary of the water pump failure, mine started to squeal around 24000 miles so took it to the local garage to find the pump bearing had collapsed and the cam belt was half off the pulley! Not long after that had been replaced, the car went into limp home mode after one of the exhaust sensors failed. Next the rear de-mister packed up, quickly followed by the near side rear light cluster. This turned out to be the wiring loom thats broken between the tailgate and the point where it enters the car, the Alfa garage said they could replace it for £840 . The warranty ran out when the car reached 3 years old and alfa will not entertain a good will gesture on anything once its 5years old, the car is just over 5 years old now. Newest issue is the front wing mounted indicators, they've just stopped working, apparently another common fault as are all the other faults according to the Alfa garage......not impressed

This is my second Alfa, I had. Mito jtd. It's excellent and a joy to drive. The DNA is fine if you use it as needed. I see in most reviews journalist complaining about it. Probably if it was on a German car it wouldn't be an issue. Comfort great a lot better than the Mito. Get it on a nice road & it's really enjoyable. Fuel consumption is good considering, I was used to a Diesel. I've read some Car magazine reviews & I don't get why they don't like it better. Would I buy another absolutely. The only down side is the lack of dealerships. Everyone I know who has commented on my car, is pleasantly surprised. No reliable issues at all. In fact I owned a Nissan which had a lot of break issues, who would have thought.

Brought a 14 plate 2.00 JDTM-2 with 26k on the clock, I have owned a Brera 2.4, GT, and a 147 (all diesel) must say this the best Alfa model out there, mine is white and the facelifted version, not as much poke as the Brera, but is even more economical than the 120 bhp 147. Considered a SEAT Leon FR, but that was more expensive and a bit bland. the styling is superb, looks cool in white with LED running lights, sound system matches the BOSE in the Brera, its quiet, great economy, roomy, and an engaging drive (not quite so chuckable around corners as the 147 though), power when you need it, best diesel engine ever, brill styling, no regrets at all, and always puts a smile on my face. If you are considering one, get it, you will not regret it, if this car was branded as a VW it would have been a top seller, also other manufacturers tend to mimic the pseudo 3 door look of the G and its other styling highlights, my only issue is that the start stop is reluctant to kick in, but not a showstopper for me

Just a brilliant car! It looks great, has massive power and it's very good to drive! Although the interior has some not good materials, it's stylish and smart. All passengers have enough legroom and headroom, but tall rear passengers may say that it's a bit cramped. Also the practicality could be better, but all these are not main reasons not to buy a car (at least for me). I recommend this car for sure, especially if you want a Italian super-fast, great looking road machine which can carry all the family!

An excellent drive and I throughly enjoyed my time with this car. However the experience was marred by a complete failure of the MultiAirr unit which had to be replaced under warranty. Looking on chat rooms this is not uncommon so I returned the car to Alfa. One month later I received a call in error telling me that the same unit had failed again! By all means drive this car but don't buy it.

A Real drivers car, the 170hp turbo engine creates a brilliant drive. Handling is excellent and the Brembo brakes are phenomenal. Sadly this is overshadowed by reliability. I have been back to the dealer numerous times for various issues with the car. Be wary of the Multi Air engines, they have some reliability issues, just have a look on the Alfa owners forum. It appears from the rest of the reviews here the diesel engine is much better, although for me I wanted the extra power you get from the 170 petrol engine.

Best car I've ever owned, and I've had loads. First the styling, spot on, can't park it without looking back and thinking how good it looks. Next driving, the DNA switch gives me the engine map to match the mood I'm in, suspension set up is slightly hard, but It's an Alfa do it would have sports suspension. Inside never had any problem getting comfortable and lots of toys as standard ( the blue & me deserves a mention for working so well ). Engine, 1.6 turbo diesel 105bhp which doesn't sound much but note than enough to hustle the car along at speed if the mood takes you, especially in Dynamic mode, it could quieter on tickover in traffic. I'm getting on average 60mpg and road tax is £30 a year, service only needed every 21,000 miles so running costs are quite low. What's gone wrong, nothing, yes that's right nothing, Alfa Romeo have in the past had a reputation of being unreliable but Alfa have put more research and development into the Giulietta than any other car they have built. So don't let stories of Alfas always breaking down put you off buying a underrated car.

First of all the pluses; looks great (black with titanium alloys), engine is excellent particularly mid-range and the leather seats are comfortable. On the downside, I didn't get the 60mpg promised by the dealer and there is no foot rest, so despite comfortable seats I struggle on a long drive. People talk about Alfa Reliability issues, but I think that is a thing of the past; it has been in the delaership once to try and resolve a SATNAV problem (the dash repeat keeps displaying km when it should be miles), but other than that no problems. It looks better than a 1-series and is more exclusive than an A3, so not a bad choice.

Distinctive looks, comfortable interior, excellent performance, handling and brakes. Some of the minor controls are a bit fiddly and visibility (especially when reversing) is not the best, but it's tremendous fun to drive on the twisty roads where I live in the Yorkshire Dales. A couple of minor issues were fixed by the dealer soon after purchase and since then nothing has needed any attention at all other than the usual consumables, even the front tyres are wearing well after 21,000 miles. My first Alfa after a long string of Saabs!

Well, where do I start? What a fantastic car this really is. The interior is stylish and modern to say the least. Makes me smile every time I sit in it. It is b****y fast for a diesel and I've owned a VW Golf GT TDI. And this would beat it hands down. It has Sport mode/Normal and Rain mode too. It handles well and sticks to the road. All whilst averaging 50mpg. Cruise control is a pleasure for those long trips. Everything is easy to use inside. Don't go putting this car in the 'coz it's an Alfa it's bound to go wrong' category. I have had no issues with this car what so ever, but you won't be digging holes in your pocket if it does, Alfa aren't as expensive as they used to be. The twin exhausts and daytime lights make it look sleek and cool. This vehicle is larger than it looks in the photos! It mimics a Golf in size rather than a Fiesta or Polo. Auto headlights, rain sensor wipers, mp3/USB/bluetooth system all come as standard. I've owned a Porsche, an RX-8, a Golf as I said earlier. And this car easily beats them hands down. You can have the fun, fuel economy, handling, reliability, impressive looks, stylish interior and comfort all rolled into one Italian road eating machine! Fantastic.

Just completed 2,000 miles trip on Continent. This car is excellent. Comfortable - no aches or pains. Smooth, quiet (dependent on good road surface) almost no noticeable or disturbing noise from either wind or engine. Excellent engine. TCT gearbox excellent on mountain passes. Well-built, no rattles. Suspension well controlled with very good ride comfort. 38.2 mpg door to door on motorways and country roads in Dynamic mode over 2,000 miles. Stop-Start needs fully charged battery (town driving kills it) - I have trickle charger to take care of this and all is 100% thanks to peak battery condition. This a very nice, well-made car - and it's so good looking.

Bought this car second hand with 45k on the clock for £6500. I'm now up to 80k over 3 years so I've done my fair share of driving in it. Driving: Very fun to drive, especially on a great B road in 'Dynamic mode' The 1.4TB 170 engine is great and the gearbox shifts beautifully. I bought this when I was 21, as it has a lot of power for a small engine and made it viable to insure. On motorway trips you can get 45MPG if your carefully, with my typical commute/travel I get just shy of 40MPG, which includes the odd B road where you can open it up a bit. Cabin: I love the half leather interior on my model, seats are comfy and it's a nice place to sit. Cabin build quality isn't bad but i've got some rattles from dash plastic and speaker covers now, which can be fixed temporarily with some WD40. My older model had bluetooth calls but not media, but I bought a £20 kit to install an aux port and add a blue and me bypass to allow aux input. Rear leg room is ok but not as good as some competitors. Running Costs: Relatively Cheap to tax and insure. I have had the car for 3 years and I have had no MOT issues or advisories other than consumables (Tyres, pads ect). Only issue I had was some of the cables snapped in the rear wiring loom, but it was a very cheap and easy fix. Overall I love my Alfa, it's a great all rounder and still puts a smile on my face on the right road. I've had no mechanical issues with it and it's aged beautifully, as unlike competitors it has changed very little styling wise. I've got a private plate on mine and most people are very surprised when I tell them how old it is!

Love my Giulietta! Over the past 2.5 years it's been amazing, such a nice car to drive with heavier pedals and heavier steering than most. It handles corners really well and the engine punches pretty well! Average 45mpg in town, 50-60 on long journeys although since opting for cheaper tyres I haven't beat 50mpg. It's been in and out of the garage a few times for headlight faults, driver's side kept not working intermittently (bi-xenon) £140 to have the bulb changed as it's made ridiculously that my local garage couldnt do it! When I first got the car a sensor broke in the gearbox but this was replaced under warranty. If you're after a driver's car then don't hesitate, my heart is what swayed me and my heart was right! All past cars I'd had for no more than a year and the Giulietta is definitely a keeper.

It's very difficult to fault this car. It's fun, practical, beautiful and solid. It's DNA device (a cockpit activated engine mapping selector which incorporates Dynamic/Normal/and All Weather), means it's sort of three drives - and certainly two distinct personalities in one car. The Dynamic mode (for which read Sport) being most useful as a 'push to pass' which sees the car become extremely rapid and share handling. It's well appointed as standard, but with lots of options available, plus there's plenty of room in the boot and it's spacious enough in the back for adults without complaint. The insurance on the petrol version isn't through the roof either and best of all, it isn't an indistinct German exercise in box ticking - but rather a proper motorcar with a soul! So if you like to drive - and don't really care about spoon-fed notions regarding status, this is a storming ride with the character of a small Gran Tourer, but with the practicalities of a hatchback!

Engaging and great to drive. Good road holding if a bit firm on suspension - but then you can't have it all ways. Engine is a joy and the auto gear box smooth and immediate. Got the paddle change which is brilliant when you need get rid of tailgaters. The steering is light and sharp. Lovely styling and a welcome change from all the boring Golfs and Audis around. Would never buy an Alfa before this one but I think they have got their act together at last. Only disappointment is petrol consumption. av 32.7 mpg. I could achieve this with my 200bhp turbo VW Eos which was a heavy solid car and I am not a boy racer either.

Trouble-free car. Engine is very powerful and the TCT gearbox changes quickly and smoothly. At a constant speed, fuel consumption is low. It's comfortable, but with good handling and has a sporty and timeless design.
