Firstly, the good points. Excellent performance and good economy - 49mpg on a recent 450-mile round trip. Sat-nav and the iDrive system is great once you get your head around it. Good looking car and well built. Now the not so good points and I'm comparing my 220i Luxury with my previous car, a Golf SV 1.4 TSI auto. The BMW is a lot noisier, especially road noise. Poorly equipped for a so called luxury model - exterior mirrors are not heated or electrically folding, leather seats are not heated, no adaptive headlights, no puddle lights, no intelligent cruise control. There are several other minor niggles, such as narrow door pockets and the driver's seat belt buckle is poorly positioned in centre console. This is my fifth BMW and I have to say, the most disappointing. I may keep it for another 3 months and then see how I feel. but I rather think I will be returning to VW for my next car.

I have been driving BMW cars for over 38 years. Good cars, but not anymore. It's a nice car that's lovely to drive and fast with 198bhp in the 220d Xdrive Active tourer. The only downside is the the blind spots (front and back) and the engine sensor keeps failing , which has cost thousands of pounds to fix. I am now switching to Kia or Hyundai.

Its xDrive four-wheel drive and the feel of driving a BMW
