When car runs ok, it's the best car I've ever had. But, it's the most unreliable, costly car I've ever had. In 18 months it's cost me £3000. It only had 54,000 on the clock when I bought it.

Awfull, noisy, thirsty, broke down twice in 3 months costing £750 in repairs and it only had 21k on the clock, my old Jag hadn't cost me £750 in 4 years. Sold the BMW bought a XF which is so much better in every way.

The car is 8 years old with 147k so you have to expect the odd thing to need replacing! So far only a sticking brake caliper (now replaced) has caused me problems. Overall, pleased.

In the 11months of ownership the car had; Turbo Actuators replaced Coil packs replace Battery replaced Shocks replaced Light cluster replaced and experienced a number of limp home mode breakdowns

Good reliability in general - warning lights appear but later clear - no faults registered

Engine failure light on dash regularly comes on with engine going into limp mode, however it clears when the engine is switched off then back on so BMW are struggling to identify the exact cause. Diagnostics are not component specific as they give a range of components which could be causing the problem (is plugs, coils, oxygen monitor etc..).

Reliability has been great except for ABS warning light comes on and stays on in certain circumstances which I need to check out. Though I think this is a known problem on my car

70,000 miles. 3 cracked alloys, 1 oil sump, suspension & turbo failure, Some of the issues have led to a run in with the dealer & BMW

bubbling rims replaced under warranty. Rear discs at 75k. New air con compressor - failed during warranty but only diagnosed after - worth getting independent opinion rathe rthan being fobbed off by BMW

had it for nearly 8 years & ~100,000miles, things have failed & needed to be replaced, fuel pump, oil pump, air con compressor. Springs have broken more often than i would have thought necessary & recurrent problems with front swivel joints, bushes etc. But after keeping on top of problems, it still behaves well

Some early issues with the transmission (prop shaft / differential unit) were dealt with under warranty. I think that at 64k miles, the a/c compressor has become noisy. My workshop agrees but we're going with it for now.

Enjoy it very much. Reliable and easy to drive in heavy traffic conditions. Great fun to drive in "petrol head" mode when the opportunity arises and is safe to do so.

Excellent build quality / reliability. excellent performance. fuel consumption is reasonably good considering size of the engine.we are now on our 5th bmw, having taken the last 2 cars to well over 180,000 miles without any serious issues . will continue to buy bmw.

Bought this bmw, a 325i coupe, to replace a 4 year old 320i coupe. The 320i was by far the better car. The styling and build quality of the 320i was far, far better. I will not be bying a bmw again.

Bmw 320 cd m-sport is the perfect commuter vehicle. Economy from the 2.0 litre diesel engine, stylish coupe with excellent roadholding and ample power for the odd cross-counrty dash, and a proper car with a manual gearbox driving the rear wheels.

The e46 m sport coupe is probably the best 3 series ever - great to drive, great looks - but sadly now that an american has got hold of the designs nothing has been the same at bmw since - the last of a great marque. And probably the last one i'll buy - and i've had 3!

I absolutely love my car, it is the best thing i have ever bought and lives well up to my expectations. I will also try to buy bmw again and although i did have a few problems bmw sorted in no questions asked and i had a hire car. I would be quite happy never selling this car if i wasnt buying a new house.

This is my 6th bmw in 10 years of driving. I have tried other marques, briefly, but none match up to the bmw 'sturdy' feel. They never sound 'off'. This one has been no different. You know when you need power it will give you it, when you need to go somewhere it will get you there, when you want to drive 1000 miles it will jump at the chance to take you there. I also have a golf gti that just always seems to be broke. Bmw all the way.

Folding roof (fabric type) has failed a couple of times - repaired under extended warranty. Very much like the car overall however for short or long journeys, roof up or down. Oil consumption 'in spec' according to dealer but higher than i expected (0.5l/1000 miles)
