First off, yes it's based on a van. The cockpit is huge, plenty of room to move and stretch, not like most other cars where your legs are constantly touching trim. The front seats can be firm but supportive, and I've not had any trouble finding a comfy driving position. I drive 25,000+ miles a year in this so I know what I'm talking about. Plenty of visibility all around. The back seats are not as comfy as a standard saloon but are suitable for the job. Even with all 7 seats setup there is still enough book space. I agree with some other reviewers that the courtesy lighting is just not sufficient or in the right place, especially for the boot. The USB connectors periodically don't work for a trip, but then work again. Never had any major problems so far, even the air-con gas is still the original and I use it everyday. Just coming up to its first MOT so we'll see. MPG is nowhere near stated, on motorway runs I get around 50mpg when driving at 60mph, It's downhill from there, most city runs leaves you with 42mpg. Don't believe the trip computer as it overstates mpg by at least 3mpg. The Powershift box is too low geared for any type of high speed driving. It really needs a 7th gear for cruising. Overall, I've had this from brand new and the only things I would like improving is the courtesy lighting and fuel economy. Much more room than other 7 seaters and it's much nicer to drive too.
Reliability

Very reliable. Never broke down on my after 60,000 miles over 3 years.
Performance
Powershift is so smooth when changing, just needs an extra cruising gear.
Running Cost
MPG is a lot less than advertised.

Suspension is poor, my family said it is like traveling in the back of a van and makes them feel sick and is un comfortable, lack of a boot interior light makes life difficult when dark, linking iPod to radio constantly stops working so that's pretty useless, too. A new front interior light was needed needed, the air vents under the seats came off and could have obstructed the pedals – potentially dangerous. The tyres seem to wear out on the insides and have been changed twice at 24,000 miles my last car tyres lasted around 33,000 miles.

Positive aspects: The car is spacious with a fabulous panoramic view. There is loads of space between your head and the roof. To my surprise it is very steady on the road, despite the height and it is easy to drive. It has enough power to accelerate and overtake another vehicle quickly. The 6th gear is a big plus. The seats are comfortable. The handle to adjust the lower back support comes in very handy because of my back pains. The back row seats are slightly higher than the front row. The children can look at the road over your shoulder. They also like the tables in the back, the view through the window roof, the 12v and USB connectors for their tablets and they like the sliding doors. There are lots of accessories (bluetooth, handsfree phone, cruise control etc) and hidden boxes to put your stuff away. Although the expert reviews say it is a bit noisy, I didn't experience this (windows closed). Also very important, the windows in the sliding doors can open like the windows in the the front doors. It is not just a small vent window as you see in many other similar cars. There are airbags everywhere and the car has a high Euro NCAP rating. Negative aspects: Not much up till now. There is more noise than in an average car when driving with the side windows open. Personally I don't like the start-stop feature. It is on by default, so you have to turn it off every time you start the engine. Overall: The car does not remind you in any way of a delivery van, although it based on the same chassis. It is my first MPV and I am wondering why I didn't think of this car earlier. It is perfect for families and long trips. It has all the features and characteristics of the expensive MPVs, but for a much lower price.

Pretty good versatile MPV, economical and quite sturdy. Let down by poor warranty and a few niggly issues: The seats are uncomfortable - after about 2 hours, my back is begging for forgiveness. The brakes are inconsistent, sometimes pin sharp and other times you need much more pressure to stop. It's under powered with a trailer on the back. I only had a motorcycle on mine and the car was struggling up motorway hills. Issues I've suffered like the windscreen cracking across all by itself and the air con de-gassing after a few months are not covered by Fords warranty and I felt ripped off by the dealer when the first service at 8000 miles was deemed a major service (especially when the second service WAS a major service and was cheaper then the first one. All this adds up to the reason why I won't be buying another new Ford.
Reliability
It's been fine apart from the air/con only working for 6 months and not covered by Fords Warranty

Bit gutless really - nothing to write home about
Running Cost
Cheap enough to run - services around the £250 - £300 mark
