Deal of the week: Volkswagen Phaeton

Save £7,000 on the V6 version of the VW's big saloon. Volkswagen is knocking money off the list price of its BMW 7 Series rival until 31 December - which means the entry-level V6 Phaeton's price is slashed to £45,180.

The car gets four-zone climate control, heated front seats, leather, sat-nav and VW's CDC air suspension. The 237bhp 3.0 V6 TDI engine is combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox to make the Phaeton equal parts powerhouse cruiser and luxury limo. The hand-built VW flagship saloon - which first debuted a decade ago - is a precision-engineered car that offers lots of luxury and equipment, placing it alongside the ranks of the Mercedes S-Class, Porsche Panamera and Audi A7.
