Mazda CX-5 crossover world premiere at Frankfurt
Mazda's CX-5 crossover compact SUV will go on sale in the UK in 2012 - following its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show
The Mazda CX-5 will go head-to-head with new Subaru XV, Skoda Yeti and Kia Sportage when it goes on sale in the UK next year. The crossover compact SUV was revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Available in two and four-wheel drive formats, the all-new CX-5 will be offered with a 164bhp 2.0-litre petrol or a 173bhp 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel SKYACTIV engine. Mazda is promising impressive fuel economy figures of 47.1mpg for the petrol and 62.8mpg for the diesel. All models fitted with front-wheel drive will fall below the 140g/km CO2 tax level.
The CX-5 offers impressive interior space too - Mazda claim it will offer class-leading rear legroom of 997mm and a 500-litre luggage area with the 40/20/40 spilt folding seats in the upright position.
When the CX-5 goes on sale in the UK next year, expect prices to be around £23,000.
A Mazda spokesperson commented, ""There won't be a high-performance MPS version, the 2.2-litre diesel is plenty powerful and should keep drivers satisfied while showing off what the chassis is capable of."
