Beautiful to drive but 2 issues: intermittent "jumping" of front end on full lock whilst reversing or slow turn ( dealer says this is normal); reverse gear selection requires high force to pass stop. Earlier 2002 model exhibited excessive "jumping". 2008 model was fine. Expected 2013 to be free of this annoying issue.

Done 22,000 miles over 3 years. Fantastic sport car. docile in traffic. turns into an animal when on open roads. engine changes from being almost nothing to a roar. low centre of gravity and mid-engine makes cornering magical. firm suspension but comfortable. chose manual for more direct control. reasonable economical. but watch your right foot. feel special in the cabin with luxury environment. wind noise not too bad with top down but more buffeting than my mini. very reliable save an annoying rattle from the dash on rough roads. Glad I got the 6 pots engine rather than the upcoming 4.

Car is FANTASTIC as a motorway cruiser, but would not use it as a "shopping trolley", too thirsty. I have an issue with the invoice (regarding spec shown but Porsche will sort this out i am sure). I was recommended to replace the front discs as they had corroded. The reason given was low use even though i had done >10,000 miles. The cost would have been £700 though more regular use may help remove the problem!! Disappointing for the brand and reliability was one of the reasons i picked the car. I have not had the work done and am not aware of any loss of performance.

Excellent value for money. Drives equally well in traffic or the open road. Fantastic gear box allows you to drive smoothly in 5th gear at 30/40 mph. Overall great performance car for the price of a corsa. I would recommend a porsche boxster to anyone who is looking for a good value roadster. Mark youngson (edinburgh)

For an outright performance car, the boxster is also quite practical and even fuel efficient. It handles fantastically, looks great and sounds wonderful to boot. I have had only minor niggles, such as moisture in the doors and a corroded condenser.

Beautiful car to look at and great to drive, shame about the repeatedly poor Porsche customer care - hopeful of improvement, I'm now visiting my third dealership! My car has sustained bodywork damage on 3 occasions when in the dealership for mechanical repair work - while twice repaired at Porsche expense, I'm still trying to get the dealership to accept liability for damage sustained over 6 months ago. Further, with repeated visits needed to have a simple faults rectified I always leave Porsche dealerships wishing I'd stayed with Audi. To add insult to injury, keen to off-load the car, I've found Porsche residuals are nowhere near the level promised when I bought the car!

I have had no problems at all. My car is however always serviced and looked after as and when is required irrelevant of mileage, it is done when due in time etc.

Parts can be expensive but that is what you expect on a car of this type and to be fair some items can be very reasonable compared to my other cars a 500 Amarth and a cooper s JCW particularly as BMW have some ridiculous parts prices on certain items !
