had a problem with the start stop, car would stop then not restart, this happened about 6 times and in 4 of those times i was at traffic lights and nearly had a crash on one of the occasions, i was informed that there had been a recall for the ECU reprograming and it hasnt done it since the reprograming.

I have only driven urban and I am getting minimum 44 mpg/month and maximum 50 mpg/month. It is responsive enough when accelerating, holds the road well when cornering, and gives the driver confidence in all weather conditions. I don't find the engine at all noisy, it drives better than old 3 series BMWs and the information I have given requires considering it has not yet had a full service and has clocked up 37,000 miles since October 2013. It feels light sporty and at the same time comfortable for an Astra and for the size of car surprisingly agile.

horrible noise from engine fuel system that is a known fault with this engine Vauxhall have issued a Technical Service Bulletin 2347 which DOES NOT cure the problem still living with it!!! also alternator belt tensioner fractured, other wise not a bad car

The car has broken down on us twice with problems with the exhaust sensors. Both sensors were replaced by the local main dealer but the problem has reoccurred another three time with the service soon warning appearing on the information screen. A software update has been carried out but does not seem to have solved the problem. Engine temperatures seem to be OK but the exhaust sensors trip on a regular basis.

My car has been extremely reliable, albeit the fuel consumption is considerably less than claimed by Vauxhall. It is comfortable on long journeys, with good suspension and steering. At 70 mph, the engine is only pulling 2000 RPM, so it is relatively quiet inside the car. The brakes are excellent, and at 50,000 miles, it is still on the original discs and pads. The carrying capacity is excellent. Despite the opinions of the staff at "What Car", it is more than a match for similar estates.

I've driven 100,000 miles in two years in this car. On the whole it's been a pleasure to drive with only one or two mechanical problems which are forgiveable considering the mileage. DAB radio and satnav are brilliant. I find the seats very comfortable over long distances. I would buy another one but probably with a spare tyre instead of the inflating kit. Only down side is I've been disappointed with the Vauxhall main dealer service. If that was better I would give 5 stars.

Good practical estate with excellent flex-organiser system to keep your boot tidy an secure. It is a superb system and such a simple idea. The car has 3 deadly design flaws in that the cars front A pillar has a huge blind spot, the middle door pillar and finally the rear window is hard to gauge. Coming out of a junction can be tricky. It does not handle as well as a Focus, the Vauxhall is more of a cruiser. The design of the Vauxhall is superb. It had a problem with the stop-start system but was fixed under warranty.

Having owned estate cars for 30 years I find this the most enjoyable to drive. It has surprising power and is very economical. Very comfortable with supportive seats. Plenty of room in back for three adults and loads of boot space. Main problem with motorway driving is keeping to 70mph as it is so quiet! SRI trim is great. Only downside that I find and does not seem to get mentioned is visibility through front triangular windows by overtaking mirrors is not very good. I had a 2007 Astra Design before this car which I liked but this model far exceeds it!
