Jaguar has unveiled the Jaguar XE Reims Edition, a limited-edition model produced to celebrate the Jaguar D-Type’s first victory at the 12 hours of Reims event in 1954. Only 200 will be released, all of which are coming to the UK. The special edition is on sale now, with prices starting from £38,295.
A few styling changes mark out the Reims Edition from the rest of the XE range. All 200 cars are to be painted in French Racing Blue, a paint colour previously reserved for the limited-run Jaguar XFR-S and XKR-S performance models. There’s a selection of gloss black exterior trim pieces, including the grille, roof, door mirrors, sill inserts and window surrounds, and the car’s 19-inch alloy wheels are black too.
The interior features black leather upholstery with contrasting stitching to give it a sportier look. The Reims Edition also adds privacy glass and the Cold Climate pack, which gives you a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel and headlight washers.
The XE range is split into two core models called standard and R-Dynamic, with a selection of trim levels available on both. Jaguar has based the Reims Edition on the R-Dynamic S trim level, which is the entry-level R-Dynamic model. That means it also comes with sat nav, online features, smartphone mirroring, a reversing camera, lane-keeping assistance and cruise control.
The special edition doesn’t have quite the same performance as the 542bhp XFR-S and XKR-S, but its 247bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine gives a 0-62mph time of 6.5 seconds, which is still reasonably quick. An eight-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive come as standard.
There are two petrol engines available to XE buyers, and the P250 in the Reims Edition is the cheapest to buy and run. It offers fuel consumption of up to 36.2mpg when driven carefully, and emits 159g/km on the smaller wheels.
