SEAT has officially announced its plans to reveal the new Leon hatchback at the Paris Motor Show next week.
The all-new car shares its underpinnings with the new Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3, both of which are based on the VW group’s new MQB platform. It will initially be offered as a five-door, with a three-door SC sports hatch and an ST estate joining the line-up at a later date.
It gets a bold look with angular headlights, sculpted bumpers and defined body creases running down the profile of the car. Inside there is a big step-up in quality, with plenty of soft-touch plastics lining the dash.
A wide range of engines will be available from launch, ranging from an ultra-economical Ecomotive model capable of 74mpg, through to a punchy 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol boasting 178bhp.
Equipment is sure to be generous, too, with all models getting a Bluetooth phone connection and a central colour touchscreen as standard. It is also the first car in its class to offer full LED headlights.
Deliveries for the practical Leon five-door will commence in March next year, and prices will be announced nearer the time.
Also on SEAT’s stand in Paris next week will be the all-new Toldeo hatch and Mii FR Concept – a sporty version of the company’s popular city car.
