This is the best car I have had. Hasn't had one problem. I have over 81000 miles on the clock, it's always serviced at the right times by main dealer. All I have renewed is the tyres and a rear bulb. I will keep this car and eventually pass it onto my son.

Not as nice as the previous e class. The power lag from braking to re applying the power is terrible and bumpy. Centre sliding console fell apart and has never worked right since it was fixed. 350 cdi eats fuel with an average combined of 27 mpg. Not what the specs say.

Very pleased with it and would recommend it to others. I put winter tyres on last winter and it was nearly as good as a 4x4 Pleased with economy for sutch a large car ave 48 mpg on motorways

Dissapointed with the fuel returns Very dissapointed with the manufacturers response to the very niggly problem of throttle response. Ie. very nerving when pulling away at junctions and roundabouts due to the 1-2 second delay in the vehicle moving off. Because of the delay, have taken out a set of rear tyres in 12000 miles.

What was expected to be an ideal car has suffered from a recurring electrical problem .Despite Spending a lot of time and money on visits to the main dealer who also involved specialist electrical engineers the car battery keeps going flat if left for more than 24 hours without being driven . Even the battery has been replaced under warranty many times - i've never experienced this problem with any other car and the dealer says they can't trace the fault; each time they think they have found the cause the next time the car is unused the same problem recurs . if used every day there's no problem but eg with recent snow the car refuses to start . We have several friends with the same make but this seems a one off problem-very frustrating and disappointing ; fortunately we can access another car when this one is unusable.Otherwise The car has a full main dealer service history and apart from sometimes being expensive service has always been good

I love my amg hammer, and i like the fact that not too many know what it is. Until they hear the sound of the engine. Its also surprisingly functional with plenty of room for 4 people, nice size trunk and its very smooth even when tackling twisty roads.

A beautiful looking car and extremely powerful. Very firm and sports car-like to drive. Huge boot space and fantastic cruiser. The depreciation after 4.5 years is very poor compared to say our Audi. This car had a full franchise dealer service history. However, it recently developed an electrical fault that rendered the car unusable for 2 weeks and cost £600 to repair. The fault was due to rain water leaking into an ECU under the driver-side wheel arch. This is a common problem with Mercs apparently. I have always bought new Mercs and loved the brand. Sadly, this problem has opened my eyes and as a result I have now sold my car and will never buy Mercedes again. The service intervals on this car are every 12 months irrespective of mileage and will gradually increase and you can expect to pay up to £800 a year from a dealer. Service contracts can be purchased but these also costs up to £400 a year. When you compare service contract cost for a brand-new car over five years averages between £500-£1000 you can see how poor the Merc compares. Our second car is an Audi which has service intervals of every two years. I have now also sold the Audi and during my 4 year ownership the car has been serviced once and has now been sold for a new Audi and has retained nearly 60% of its original purchase price. When the E350 worked it was my pride and joy. Sadly, once a car lets you down, it's safer to walk away and avoid future problems.

Every day I drive around 90 miles as a commute and this car makes it a pleasure. It comes loaded with a great level of equipment and is very tax efficient. The engine is smooth even for a 2.5L diesel and if you select 'sports' it is incredibly fast. Running on economy it gives a great mpg both on long runs and around town. Easily fits 5 even on long journeys and feels solid and planted well on the road. I have had no issues with this car since I got it and will look to get a new one when the time comes. Used to drive a Jaguar prior to this but much prefer the Benz!

I have had this car from new, in the first month I had to take it back to Mercedes for them to check the gearbox. The car would set off in first gear ok but would rev to 4,000 revs what seemed for ever before changing into the next gear. They told me this was normal as the gearbox oil was cold, When I replied that I could drive to London from Lincolnshire and it would do it every time the car dropped into low gears they then said it could be to the adaptive gearbox picking up on my wife's driving style... WHAT!!! I persevered with the car and over the first 6 months had the car back to Mercedes with similar gearbox faults. We eventually crossed Europe on a holiday covering over 3000 miles, whilst coming back across Croatia, the gear box decided it wouldn't go any further than 5th gear, even using the paddles I couldn't convince the car to use the other 2 gears. I stopped in a European Mercedes agents and they repaired it within 3 hours. I now have intermittent power problems with the car, some times in limp mode some times not. This car from new over the last 18 months has now seen Mercedes agents over 9 times, not bad for a £40,000.00 + car...

This car has been outstanding with no faults at all. We have enjoyed many European holidays in it - it is the ideal long distance touring car. I purchased a spare set of wheels and had Pirelli winter tyres fitted to them, so that we have always felt safe and comfortable in bad winter conditions. I would recommend a light colour interior (ours is grey) together with a panoramic sunroof. This makes the interior nice and light - some E Classes I have seen look gloomy inside. The COMAND sat nav is excellent, as is the Intelligent Light system. Some irritating design points (not faults): The automatic headlight dipping is too slow on country roads where you want to go quickly back to main beam after an oncoming vehicle has gone past. I usually deselect that feature. There is no separate headlamp wash button, instead when you select windscreen wash for the first time with the headlamps on, the headlamp washer works automatically and then again after so many windscreen washes ( I think 6-10). I find this irritating. With daylight running lights selected the headlamps will come on when the light sensor thinks its dark enough, even if the main light switch is set to O and not A. I find this irritating also, as you find yourself in say, Central London at 4 in the afternoon in winter when few cars have lights on and you have daylight running lights and headlights as well. When the facelift model was announced I considered buying another because I have enjoyed this car so much. However Mercedes have "simplified" the range so that the only direct replacement is in AMG Sport trim, which means it has larger wheels which impact the ride quality, and no spare wheel! My experience of UK roads leads me to want small wheels and high profile tyres- these are available inn Germany but not in UK. So I will not be buying another one.

Supremely comfortable, a pleasure to drive with a superb responsive and powerful engine and ultra smooth gearbox. Well equipped with some really neat features such as parking assists and intelligent lighting system. Only issue is niggly faults such as frozen door locks, engine management faults and rattly dashboard and lousy main dealer service. Mercedes really need to sort out quality and service issues and then i'd be a delighted customer.

This is my 5th Merc since 1982. Purchased from new and main dealer as usual. Up until recently this car has been a dream. It has only 22k miles and always main dealer serviced. Drives like a dream with amazing power and comfort. However, recently I was surprised to find the battery was dead. Replaced battery from dealer and initially everything was OK. After 2 hours returned to car to find the battery dead yet again. Not good! The engine fan is draining the battery by running at max speed continuously. Main dealer replaced relay which costs £8 for total cost of £136. Sadly, the problem has not been fixed. Car back at dealer and they are investigating further. I'm selling this pile immediately and will never ever buy a Merc again. Too expensive and when it goes wrong you will be getting fleeced. Very sad as I have been loyal to the brand but a £48k car that can't hold its battery charge is a disgrace!

This is the third mercedes-benz i have purchaced and and i like it the most. It has plenty of style and performance. It is also good on fuel. It is very quiet for a diesel, infact it is much more qiuet than a lot of petrol cars.

A comfortable and practical car which is at its best devouring motorway journeys. The fuel economy when used in this way is exceptional. It's not a car to enjoy driving on b roads but it doesn't pretend to be. The car feels pretty solid and has been reliable. The dealers aren't the best and are very expensive.

Excellent car, but was nervous if the mercedes would be as reliable as my previous skoda. I can forgive it one small problem with the exhaust sensor but it is too early to tell whether it will prove to be reliable in the long term
