Skoda Enyaq iV SUV - Reliability & safety
It might be Skoda's first EV but there are few signs of weakness here
Pros
- Versatile interior
- Good value
- Spacious
Cons
- Firm ride
- Fastest charging adds cost
- Cold weather significantly affects range
Being an entirely new model, it will be some time before we get solid Enyaq iV reliability data but we suspect the simplicity of its electric powertrain should make it very dependable. Families will also be reassured by its cutting-edge safety features and strong performance in safety tests.
Skoda Enyaq iV reliability
Some may be concerned that the Enyaq iV is Skoda's first-ever electric car but the reality isn't quite as straightforward as that. It sits on the same MEB platform as the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4, along with a host of forthcoming products from sister brands, and is the result of a vast amount of financial and engineering investment.
The reliability of the electric powertrain is also evidenced by the lack of maintenance required; it only needs inspecting every two years, with a new cabin pollen filter representing one of the biggest jobs required. If owners do experience any faults, they’re more likely to be with the car's electronics but over-the-air updates should hopefully be able to solve many of these without a trip to the dealership. Owners can be reassured of the brand’s reputation for reliability, with Skoda managing an excellent 12th place from 29 car manufacturers in our 2021 brand satisfaction survey. Overall, just 13.7% of owners reported an issue with their cars within the first year of ownership.
Safety
Safety has already been assured, thanks to a full five-star rating from Euro NCAP, the independent crash-test body. It scored well across the board, with 94% and 89% for adult and child occupant protection respectively. A score of 82% in the Safety Assist category also goes to show how impressive its crash-mitigation features are.
Standard safety kit includes front, side and curtain airbags, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points for the front and outer rear passenger seats.
