While the Superb’s neat exterior is a subtle evolution of what came before it, it’s all change inside the car. While we’ve seen this isn’t always a positive thing in some rivals, Skoda has balanced the use of new technology and intuitive interfaces with attractive design rather expertly.

The most overt example of this is the new ‘Smart Dials’ beneath the main infotainment screen, each of which has its own 32mm display. Press on it to toggle which function the jog dial controls, and then rotate it to control everything from the climate control to the heated seats and fan power, or even the driving modes. It’s a neat solution that allows for the minimalist design trend, without burying every feature within the touchscreen.

  • Reversing camera

SE L

(SE Technology plus…)

Is the Skoda Superb infotainment and sat-nav system easy to use?

While we’re grateful the Superb still has some handy physical controls, that’s not to say its 13-inch tablet-style touchscreen is a bad one – it’s responsive to inputs and boasts sharp graphics, along with handy shortcut buttons so you can get to frequently used features more quickly and easily. There’s even a shelf to steady your wrist for easier tapping.

Is the Skoda Superb well equipped?

There are three trim levels from the off, and even the entry-level SE Technology should be adequate for most buyers. It even gets the 13-inch touchscreen and Smart Dials, along with a 10.25-inch driver’s display, sat nav and adaptive cruise control. The front seats aren’t just heated, but even have a basic massage function. SE L takes things up a notch with more convenience and luxury features, while Laurin & Klement boosts the quality of the leather interior and adds a dark chrome grille.

What options should you choose on the Skoda Superb?

While you might expect the Laurin & Klement trim to come fully loaded, that’s not quite the case. It’s still possible to add 19-inch alloy wheels and features like a head-up display and panoramic sunroof.
