Although relatively new, my M3 Competition is proving a remarkable car to drive. It has masses of power and when matched to the autobox makes driving a real hoot. The revised suspension settings of the Competition and multi function selection modes to the gearbox, dampers, steering and engine give you as much or as little electronic input as a driver needs. Other high perfomance car manufacturers could learn from BMW here as its not over intrusive. A Golf R with all the gimmicks made my driving hell for 18 months as it was so over the top and would never allow you to "drive" the car. The DSG is worth a mention as it is very good. Jaguar need to get hold of this box as it runs rings around the ZF effort which I found so poor in my last car. It is not a cheap car to own or run, but you will know that before you buy one. Late 20's mpg at best, but if you want economy why look here anyway! I never understand the criticism of performance vehicles about fuel usage..... buy a Smart ForTwo! Would also suggest purchasing a Service Pack, in this case will save you over a three year ownership. Great car, great fun, especially with the latest 2018 modifications.

Excellent car. Great speed, handling and build quality. Power and grip is brilliant, yet can be used as an everyday family car. Boot easily takes 7-8 bags of shopping.

Tremendous performance, masses of mid range power but it can be a handful in the wet. The door seals are a little noisy at low speed, I find steering fine some don't – it's very responsive and the car is extremely agile. You have to treat it with respect – it can turn from a easy to drive town car into a aggressive animal otherwise. The double clutch gearbox is brilliant with no lag between changes. However, the fuel consumption is not even close to the advertised figure unless you travel at 10 mph.
