Citroën C3 Aircross SUV - Practicality & boot space
A flexible loading space and roof rails mean the Citroen C3 Aircross caters to families, but the towing limit is quite low
It doesn't take up much room on the road – or in the car park – but the Citroen C3 Aircross has a tall roof that makes it spacious enough to accommodate four adults and a reasonable amount of luggage.
Citroen C3 Aircross interior space & storage
You sit fairly upright in the Aircross, which is welcome news if you like to have a good view of your surroundings. It also means that despite the car's short overall length, interior space is quite plentiful. Passengers over six feet tall might find kneeroom at a premium, but the front seatbacks are squishy enough that it shouldn’t be uncomfortable. Headroom in the back can be a bit tight for taller adults though, especially if the panoramic roof is fitted, because this lowers the roofline by a few centimetres.
Boot space
When the Aircross is full of passengers, there’s a decent 410 litres of boot space. When they hop out – or if they don’t mind sliding the rear seats forward – you can increase the boot size to 520 litres. Fold the 60:40 split-folding seats down entirely and 1,289 litres is available for hauling furniture. You can also move the boot floor up and down, either to ensure there’s a smooth surface to slide objects along, or to make the boot deeper for maximum space. Citroen has clearly thought about its customers, providing a handy slot in the boot to hold the parcel shelf when you need every bit of space.
Towing
While Citroen offers a ‘swan neck’ towbar for the Aircross, it can only manage light towing duties. The two petrol engines can tow braked trailers weighing up to 650 and 840kg respectively. In comparison, the Renault Captur can tow up to 1,200kg.
