2022 Citroen C5 Aircross: pricing and specifications
The Citroen C5 Aircross can be configured in three trim levels: ‘Sense Plus’, ‘Shine’ and ‘C-Series Edition’.
Sense Plus models start at £26,930 and come with 18-inch diamond cut ‘Pulsar’ alloy wheels, electrically-operated and heated door mirrors and front and rear LED lights. They also get a ‘Wild Black’ interior with seats trimmed in black fabric and leather-effect cloth on the inside. Standard safety equipment includes Active Safety Brake, Collision Risk Alert, Active Lane Departure Warning and Speed Limit Information.
Shine models begin at £28,080 and feature a Dark Chrome Colour Pack, Citroen Airbump, ‘Urban Black’ ambience with black Alcantara and leather-effect cloth. Technology on Shine models includes Drive Assist Pack, which adds Blind Spot Monitoring, Adaptive Cruise Control and Stop and Go functionality on automatic and Plug-in Hybrid versions.
The range-topping C-Series Edition models start from £20,520 and come with an Anodised Bronze Colour Pack, C-Series Edition badging, a bi-tone finish with a black painted roof, a panoramic sunroof and 19-inch diamond-cut ‘Art’ alloy wheels. C-Series models also get an upgraded interior with black leather and leather-effect trim. Safety technology includes the Drive Assist Pack with Highway Driver Assist for level 2 semi-autonomous driving capability.
Exterior and interior
The facelifted C5 Aircross adopts several design changes over the previous model. At the front, Citroen’s separate light clusters have been replaced with a combined unit. There are two stacked LED daytime running lights, which link up with newly illuminated strakes on the grille. Redesigned air intakes also feature. Around the back, the tail-lights get a new design.
The new C5 Aircross also gets Citroen Advanced Comfort Suspension as standard, along with updated Advanced Comfort seats featuring high-density foam and memory foam, a new 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a new 10-inch touchscreen on the dashboard.
Citroen aims to make the facelifted C5 Aircross feel more premium, so the materials and technology inside have both been overhauled. A new, larger touchscreen is available on models that have sat nav fitted, and the screen now sits above a bank of air vents, rather than between them. Moving the touchscreen further up should make it easier to view and use while driving, although you’ll still need to use the screen to adjust the cabin temperature.
Citroen’s Advanced Comfort seats have also been updated, as they have been on the Citroen C4 and the Citroen C5 X (a separate model from the C5 Aircross). Extra foam has been added to the seats, and they’re designed not to sag over time.
Engine and powertrains
The new C5 Aircross is available with a PureTech petrol engine or a Blue HDI diesel engine, both producing 128bhp and paired with either a six-speed manual or an EAT 8 eight-speed automatic gearbox.
A 222bhp plug-in hybrid model can also be specified from launch, offering up to 38 miles of electric-only range. The PHEV version of the C5 Aircross comes with an 80kW electric motor and an eight-speed electrified automatic gearbox, while prices start from £35,835.
