MG4 EV named DrivingElectric Car of the Year for 2023

The MG4 EV has been named DrivingElectric 2023 Car of the Year. The announcement comes as part of the EV-focused site’s annual electric car awards, which saw MG take home awards in four of the 28 wide-ranging categories.

The MG4 EV hatchback impressed the DrivingElectric team – as well as us here at Carbuyer – with its sporty drive, strong electric range and bargain price point. Also taking the award for the Best Value Electric Car, the British-Chinese brand’s electric family hatchback impressed more than just the judging panel; the MG4 was voted the Readers’ Favourite Electric Car, after topping an online poll. The upcoming MG Cyberster sports car was named the Readers' Most Anticipated Electric Car, as well.

MG Motor UK’s Commercial Director, Guy Pigounakis, said the brand was “thrilled” with the results: “We’re committed to making zero-emissions motoring attainable for as many people as possible,” he said, “with cars that are true to MG’s ‘Get More’ philosophy.”

Other highlights of the awards include Carbuyer’s 2023 Car of the Year, the Kia Niro, being awarded the title of DrivingElectric’s Best Hybrid Family Car. The contentiously-named Ora Funky Cat stole the Fiat 500’s Best Urban Electric Car crown, while the Skoda Enyaq iV held onto its title of the publication’s Best Electric Family Car.

The all-new BMW i7 was dubbed DrivingElectric’s Best Long Distance Electric Car, thanks to its brilliant range and luxurious interior, with the smaller i4 taking home the award for Best Electric Company Car – mirroring its result at the 2023 Carbuyer Best Car Awards.
